Hulk, hands down.

I heard Muhammad Ali is often considered the most recognizable face on the planet.

I have watched wrestling for years; probably since I was born. The current state of wrestling makes me sad. That thought brings me to this question:

 

Who (in your opinion) are the top ten wrestlers of all time?

Stone Cold did for wrestling in the 90s what Hogan did for it in the 80s but took it even further and then the Rock came in and the let's not forget Mick Foley and what he did book and all. Austin & the rock were by far the better wrestlers in a pure technical standpoint. Hogan could work a crowd though. Man I miss those glory days.

Bret Hart is my favorite but Hulk Hogan "revolutionized" the sport.

I disagree. Though I was never really a wrestling fan, I think that makes me an exception that PROVES the rule, as I'd certainly mark Hogan as a more popular wrestler than either Steve Austin or The Rock. As far as physical prowess goes, and who's the best actual wrestler, well, considering that it's so staged, I think it's hard to prove, but Hogan in his prime could most definitely hold his own - if not win - against any other wrestler in history.

 

But I voted for Andre the Giant, because I'm an unofficial member of his posse.

I always enjoyed Dusty Rhodes. He was my favorite and still remains so today, but I had to throw my vote towards Ric Flair. He has been wrestling as long as I can remember and is one of the toughest guys ever to step into the ring. Wrestling in the Mid-Atlantic and Mid-South regions, he didn't get the attention Hogan got from being based in Madison Square Garden, but Flair was twice the wrestler in his prime that Hogan was. When Vern Gagne had the AWA, he held a "Clash of the Champions" series of matches which pitted his AWA champ Rick Martel, WWF champ Hogan, and NWA champ Flair. Flair dominated these matches, while Hogan had a hard time getting past Martel. Flair was the much better wrestler.

I voted Hulk Hogan, but there some others that are enjoyable to watch like Rowdy Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes, Ultimate Warrior.

Ric Flair was always my favorite. Loved all his silly antics in the ring (like the dazed, face-first fall to the mat), and his pre- and post-match interview segments were the bomb!

Slic Ric baby....especially when he was part of the four horsemen. Numerous world titles won and master of the figure four leglock and the slap heard around the world. Would love to meet this guy just to hear about all of the years from the Mid Atlantic to WCW to WWE.
