May 21, 200719 yr I'd say that would be one heck of a deal for you but one heck of a loss for the dealer. Not for a KIA.
May 21, 200719 yr 2007 KIA Spectra is the car, (well equiped...even w/ spoiler and remote start). Sticker is $19,100. I am at $13,700 with them and thinking that is pretty decent. Deal or No Deal??? 1. Kia doesn't have a Spectra that has an MSRP of $19,100 so the dealer must have some adds on it (spoiler maybe??). 2. Your $13,700 includes a rebate of either $1,000 or $1,500(or both). Did they give you a worksheet that spells out the details? I'd get the detail from the dealer as to what is the selling price, what down money are they assuming (rebates are down money), is there a trade involved, etc. Once you have that, you can then see what the true selling price is. Its not $13,700 IMO. That price is less rebate which does not come out of the dealer's pocket. 3. How long do you plan on keeping it? Why the Kia? Price?
May 21, 200719 yr I recently bought a new 2007 Saturn Ion and I love it thus far. Pretty low payments, good gas mileage...
May 22, 200719 yr The last car my wife and I bought was from Tafel Motors...and there was no negotiation per se....if we didn't buy it, someone else would've.
May 22, 200719 yr The last car my wife and I bought was from Tafel Motors...and there was no negotiation per se....if we didn't buy it, someone else would've. Some models are so hot its a "you take it for this or someone else will." It was that way with years ago with Honda. You'd ask "what will you take for it" and they'd say "what it says on the sticker." Nice folks at Tafel.
May 23, 200719 yr At my work we get a company discount with sereral dealers. Ask around...this also could be for anyone who reads this. Is there any other Kia dealers that is close so you could compare? that seems to help give you idea on how hard they want to work with you.
May 24, 200719 yr I am not disputing your information, you probably know more about the cost of vehicles than I do, but before I bought the program vehicle, I worked on buying a new GMC Denali with 37 miles, it stickered for $38K and when I walked away I had got the price down to $24K. Full discloser I did have a trade in that I would guess was valued at $6K. I am not sure they were giving me $6K for the trade in, but in your rational - maybe. I dont know where you were looking at that Denali, but I just bought a Yukon. The sticker on the 2007 Denali was 52 and change and with my GM discount (retired family member) I was still only able to get it knocked down to 43. If you could have gotten it new for 38, I would have jumped on it!!
May 24, 200719 yr How much do you know about Infiniti? It looks like a sideways 8. Seriously, I'm also car shopping at the moment. I'm looking for something reliable and maybe a little on the sporty side for my daughter. Not looking at new vehicles at all. However, options are limited here in Maysville.
May 24, 200719 yr Word of advice - when negotiating a price with the dealer, NEVER negotiate the monthly price. Always negotiate the final price - including taxes, charges, etc. One dealer (at a Kia store) recently tried to sale me on a new Spectra. I asked him the price, he told me around $200 per month. I asked him what the financing rate was going to be - he told me that he didn't know and only had a multiplier that he used. I asked him the length of the loan - he told me that it depended on my down payment. I asked him if he ever sold a car with those kind of negotiations. He told me he did all the time. I told him "Not to Me" and walked out. I ended up finding a used 99 Chevy Lumina with 30k miles for $2,800. I work with the previous owner's son (she passed last year), so I know the reason for the low mileage. Mechanic also said it was pretty much like a brand new car. Not a pretty or flashy car, but the price was right and the "salesman" was honest.
