Will the city even let people work on the field? It does seem odd that the game wasn't switched to CovCath?

I'm sure the players were in class and the parents working.

Who is it that maintains/pays for the field at Highlands Park? Whoever it is should look into this new product recently developed that might help improve the quality of their infield - it's called grass seed. The field could be quite nice, but the infield is atrocious.

The JV tournament game was going on at CCH.

That makes sense not to bump off a field for a varsity game. I assumed regular season. Sorry

The field was never touch. I went by a few times and never saw anyone except the city workers working on other projects. Was told that the person that takes care of the fields for the high school was picking up trash, sweeping floors, and emptying garbage cans at the high school. Just when you thought your program was going in the right direction,(don't get me wrong, it is) you get this. I bet if it was a city little league game, that crew of 4 or 5 city workers would have gotten it ready.:mad:

As for school workers doing it, you know as well as I do how understaffed the school is. Thank the SEEK formula for that.

 

To prevent this problem from happening again, Coach J. has to have a cadre of parents he can call on to work on the field. Back in the day when the football field was grass and we had similar problems, there were a group of parents that would be up there doing what they could to get the field in playing condition. Baseball needs to get similarly organized. As happy as I am with the baseball team, I really think the stones being thrown at the school and the city are being winged in the wrong direction. But the baseball program will get there. My guess is that if someone had called baseball parents and supporters of the school, we could have gotten plenty of help together to try and do something with the field. I know it was a work day, but hey we all know that Highlands sports comes before a paycheck! Heck last year for a knothole game, we had 6 or 7 parents up there working on a field. Some nut (me) actually drove the Gator through down with the rake on it to the field.

 

And the City would have been fine with it.

It's hard to be able to get a field ready when you really don't own the field or it isn't on school property. When I was at CovCath the freshmen gym classes got the field ready, don't know if that happens today, but with the field being so far from the school, I can understand why it wasn't ready for the CovCath game. I seem to remember reading recently about the Reds donating money to refurbish ball fields. Maybe they can donate an "all-sports" turf for the ballfield. Similar to what the Bengals have done for Oak Hills!.........................................................easy, just kidding!

I just heard the same thing about getting a ticket for driving the gator to Highland Park. What a Joke!!!!! As small as our city is:rolleyes: you would think the police would help the school as much as possible. Yet they will allow a 9 year old ride his four wheeler 5 blocks on the sidewalk to a city park. I really could care less who this kids dad is!!!!! Point is the school should be able to take care of business without all of the politics from Ft Thomas!!!!

Why is it againt the law to drive the gator on the street? Couldn't this be considered a farm vehicle, they don't have plates! What about all the kids w/the powered scooters, they ride on the street. Seems someone needs to go to a city council mtg and get things straightened out.

They have allready banned powered scooters in Ft Thomas just lately. I know we are getting way off the topic here so brfore i say something that might get me into some hot water i will try to stray away from this thread.
