I know that we could have a few scholarships for this year that we hold for next year, but I'm not sure that I like it that he is offering so many players without the scholarships to back it up. You'd like to stay loyal to the kids already on the roster, but in the end your job depends on the players in uniform. I don't mind it but a lot of people think it's dirty...

I don't mind it but a lot of people think it's dirty... It is no dirtier than recruits stringing along coaches until the last minute to make college choices, or jumping ship to the NBA the first chance they get. It is all a business and you have to be willing to do what is necessary to make things happen. Why not cut a kid loose and allow him to transfer to a place he may actually play rather than sit the bench and be miserable.

I think if Billy Clyde gets some of the recruits he is after we may see a few leave on their own. I would not even count out Jasper leaving. I would hate to see a kid get pushed out, but it does happen. Some players may not fit BCGs scheme of things to come.
May 2, 200719 yr Being in the mix isn't going to cut it for most UK fans, it didn't for the previous coach and it won't for Coach G either..... With the previous coach, we wouldn't have been in the mix for this guy because he's too likely going to be a 1 and done. He might not be, but the possibility would have kept us from recruiting him IMO.

Rush, Hansbrough, etc. all had UK in the mix...
May 2, 200719 yr Author Just saw some video on Monroe...Haven't seen to many 6'10 guys handle the ball the way he does. At first glance I thought the PG had the ball going coast to coast, but it was Monroe.

The more UK is listed on the top players list the more likely we'll land a few. It's been a good while since UK has been on the list of the top players in the country. Not very often since Tubby's been here. Gillespie is doing GREAT in my book and I'd bet the farm he has us in Final Four in the next 3 or 4 years. And you do that by landing TOP RECRUITS. Something Tubby could not do because I believe he thought just being UK was enough to draw recruits. It may have been back in the day but not these days in college basketball when everyone is throwing millions into facilities and winning.
