April 23, 200719 yr Was he successful at Morehead? What's his resume? UK dropped the ball with women's basketball back in the '70s when Coach Yow left. They had a chance to get into the game early and build themselves as a national power, but they weren't willing to put the money and interest into the program. So, Tennessee and others took the ball and ran with it. Now,those schools have the players kentucky should have the ability to get, and now recruits don't see Kentucky as a national power. They see Tennessee, Connnecticut, and others. Just look at the Parade magazine picks....how many of them are going to either Tennessee or UConn? I don't think UK has ever had a Parade or McBurger signee. I know that he turned the Morehead program around really quickly. They were a bottom feeder in the OVC and in his first year they made it to the semi's of the OVC tourney. Then this past season they tied for first place overall in the OVC. So, he is more than capable of handlng the UK job!:thumb:

I would say you are correct in the Demoss connection being a major factor. He also coached under P. Summitt so that was in his favor also.

I say give him a chance and allow him time to prove himself. Only time will tell what the results will be but I am more than willing to give him a chance to succeed.

April 23, 200719 yr Mitchell is a great guy and was integral in landing most of the top players that UK has right now. He seemed to know his stuff while I was there as a practice player. He was definitely the number 2 at UK, even though Coach Stack tried to act like she was sometimes. :laugh:

April 23, 200719 yr Records dont indicate how good a coach is. You UK fans continue to amaze me for a group of people to claim to know so much about basketball. Take female college basketball. You may have currently, 1/5 of the talent pool that mens basketball does which makes recruiting in the OVC that much harder. This is a great pick for UK, the man can coach and now back in the SEC, he will be able to recruit a little bit better player. He still has to battle lsu,vandy, ut, etc...
