2007 Whitley County

Okay. That's true. I was just trying to suggest that both programs were fairly equal.

I think this is a great reflection upon Corbin! Anytime a 2A school is even considered fairly equal to 4 or 5 A school, they must be doing something right.

Or possible could it be that the 4 or 5 school could not win 2A state championship.... hmmm

Either way I wish all area teams the best of luck!

WHy does every thread have to turn into a Corbin vs WHtiley thing???

I would say there are a lot of Four A Schools that couldn't win the 2A championship. I would say Corbin couldn't win the Single A Championship. What the heck does that have to do with anything. But I would agree that it is a great reflection on Corbin to be and equal with Whitley most years.

You are probably right, that is an excellant observation.

If Lebanion is the starter, the Colonels are going to be a stronger running team, and with addition of the Jones kid this fall it will give them depth in the back field. If the weight room has been kind to the Colonels, then they could be a much improved team.

Is Cody Jones going to be able to play? If so, that is great news for the young man and for the Colonels.:thumb:

Considered.... by who...I can see Coach Black and Coach Jewell playing soon...Corbin has a 13-18 record out of district the last 5 years...they were 8-2 the 2 years before that.....so....I personally would not consider them ABOVE Whitley or for that matter above hardly any in SE Ky.

I would hope that a 4 or a 5 A school would beat a 2A school. I do not see any advantage for WC to play a Corbin, maybe to keep some of thier own kids but that would be about it. WC to even do well in the playoffs must be able to beat the single and 2A schools and most 3A schools. That in my opinion is one of the problems, we think to small. Even two schools that are a few miles down the road has greater success than WC in the playoffs. Well lets just be honest there is no way that a 4 or 5 A school in this area could ever get passed the second round. That includes the new Harlan Co. School! Speed, Strength, Numbers, are all in Northern Kentucky. I mean WC has some exceptional athletes maybe even around 15 but not 40 like some of those teams such as Highlands.

Corbin's non-district record over the past 5 seasons is 23-21 with 12 of the losses coming to 3A & 4A schools. They are also 11-5 during the playoffs during some same 5 year period.

This thread is about Whitley County folks.

If you want to discuss Corbin-Whitley or 2A and 4A start another thread.

How is the Colonels coaching staff looking, are there any additions. I am looking forward to seeing what Coach Fox and Davis can do with the freshmen, I am sure that they will help the retention rate. Having those guys on the staff that are from Whitley can only help the program get better.

I was amazed to hear people talking football right after spring practice.

According to a lot of talk from coaches around the area Whitley County is switching from the Tony Franklin stuff to the wing-t.

I think that may be some propaganda or misinformation being put out to make the fans interest rise. Don't be surprised to see the ball in the air and several new receivers making great catches. Coach Black is not married to the air attack but I think after a year in the system the players will have a much better understanding, but you will see the Colonels run the ball more effectively to set up the pass and thus make it more effective.

Or they could go back to the "Wing-T" It was certainly effective back in the day........I don't think anyone will know for sure till the Colonels kick off in August.

I really ythink Whitley and Corbin Wil get together in the next couple of years. I think it would be an awesome atmosphere and huge gate. Whitley should have a shot at winning their district this year which means they could go at least 3 games deep in playoffs........... I'm really not sure how Corbin played 44 non-district game in 5 years but I did check again for the last 5 years and figured a 14-17, 2002..2-3....2003..4-2....2004..3-3.....2005..3-4...2006..2-5....14-17

With the new alignment, Whitley has an opportunity to do real well in the playoffs. Whitley and Corbin compete against each other in basketball, baseball, tennis, volleyball, golf, track, softball and will in soccer in a year or so:sssh: ...............so why not football?

you must not be including playoff wins against non-district teams in your totals, that is how they played 44 non-district games in five years.

My bad..I was just counting regular season...I do think the new 6 class system will be beneficial to all area teams.....I just dont like playing your own district in playoffs...I do think Coach Black and Coach Jewell will get the football game going soon

This is supposed to be a thread on what WCHS needs to do to improve as a team, to be successful. Not about Corbin vs WC.

#1 Playing Corbin won't make WC better.

#2 Whitley has got bigger and better things on the horizon!(playing Corbin ha!!!!! who cares)
