2007 Whitley County

Good Question.....

Corbin will tell you Whitley won't play.

Whitley will tell you Corbin won't play.

Williamsburg played Corbin when Black was there, and he beat them, so I am sure he would not mind playing.

Williamsburg is not playing Corbin and Corbin dropped them, according to Williamsburg, according to Corbin, Williamsburg dropped them.

I have no idea why WHS and WCHS won't play. I am sure with Black being the former coach at WHS, Williamsburg would love a shot at them, and Whitley would love the gate regardless of Williamsburg or Corbin being on the field.

Bottom line, if Jim Black is left alone at Whitley neither team will want to play him before long.

You may be right, but they would play just to get Corbin on the schedule on a regular basis. Of course, the Hounds may not want to play the Colonels next year, or on a regular basis.:flame:

For some reason I don't think that the Redhounds would be afraid of playing Whitley, or anyone else in SE Kentucky for that matter.

According to a lot of talk from coaches around the area Whitley County is switching from the Tony Franklin stuff to the wing-t.

Hmmmmm......

Is Bell County in Southeastern Ky?

Whitley is certainly not afraid to play Bell....see week 2 of the 07 schedule.

Being afraid has absolutely nothing to do with Corbin not playing Bell Co...........when there is a coaching change at either school is when you will see the series renewed.

Whitley plays in a district where they should be a lock for the playoffs. Bell, Rockcastle, Middlesboro and Newport dot the non district schedule.

I don't see how anyone can knock that schedule. Looks strong to me.

The record may not be sparkling but you can bet they will be improved. As far as the schedule goes, maybe Williamsburg and Corbin could grace the Colonels with a game, it would be one that everyone would love to see.

As far as improvement goes, some may actually see the Woods in spite of the trees. The Colonels will be improved, but playing the tough schedule that Coach Black has set up, the record will be improved but maybe not as much as the fans would like. The Colonels said good bye to over 10 seniors and will be replacing them with alot of youth, but Coach Black will be fine.

A very challenging schedule for the Colonels. It should prepare them for a playoff run this year though.

I'm sure Whitley would like to play a single A school. Whitley and Corbin should play. It would be very entertaining and a great gate. Corbin has big expectations for a team that struggled until it got into their creampuff district. I believe that Whitley could line up and play with them this year.

It would be an interesting matchup indeed. I do not look for it to happen anytime in the near future though. Maybe Whitley can win a playoff game with the new class system. Of course you have to first make the playoffs to win a game.

I would hope that is the plan anyway.....

I think the debate on what would happen between Whitley and Corbin if they played annually is funny. I think that if they played 10 times, over a 10 year period it would probably be 5-5, maybe 6-4 one way or the other. Fact is that both schools have good programs. Corbin does better in the playoffs because they face weaker playoff compeition. But overall I think the strength of the programs is very similar.

You are probably right, that is an excellant observation.

If Lebanion is the starter, the Colonels are going to be a stronger running team, and with addition of the Jones kid this fall it will give them depth in the back field. If the weight room has been kind to the Colonels, then they could be a much improved team.

The playoff competition should obviously be stronger in 4A and 5A as opposed to 2A. That is why they classify football.

Okay. That's true. I was just trying to suggest that both programs were fairly equal.
