April 13, 200719 yr You aren't very good with those smileys over the years... Oh, Believe me there's not a smiley available for the some of those.... I agree with Fletch also I usually do not believe anything on here until it's confirmed by GT or Labs.
April 13, 200719 yr Just listened to an interview with Willie Warren that occurred earlier today.....He said some interesting things, one of which is that he is planning on making a decision very soon. He said some things about how "Coach G. going to UK just makes it that much easier to make a decision", he pauses for a moment and than adds, "if that's where I end up." Also the guys conducting the interview were talking afterwards about how Warren was the recruit Coach G. was visiting when UK called, and he said something along the lines of Coach G. texting him that he may be going somewhere else, and that WW was coming with him....
April 13, 200719 yr I still find it a bit funny how people blasted me for saying Tubby and Huggs were built from the same coaching "cloth". Yes Tubby had fewer character issues, but the structure and foundation of both were very similar... Mick and Billy G are on the other end of the scale completely... This is so funny. Huggins and Tubby Smith are about as different as you can get. They have different personalities, they recruited different types, of players, etc. I could go on and on!

April 13, 200719 yr So opposite they are VERY close friends. They are different people, but very similar coaches and recruiters... Bellalum and I are very close friends. You can see by some of the stuff we say on here we disagree. We are very opposite people, but it has no negative affects on our friendship. I just don't like the comparison. They are way too different and like I said recruit different types of players usually.

April 13, 200719 yr I see were Gametime is coming from Huggins and Tubby is the same type of style on the court just different people off the court, and Im not knocking Huggins because I do like him.
April 13, 200719 yr So let me hear, in depth, why you think they are such different coaches and recruiters... For one thing Tubby goes after different types of players. He looks more at character of young men than Huggins does. Huggins does more sweet talking recruits. Tubby was always honest to a fault never promising a recruit anything, but having an opportunity to compete for a spot. Also, (you couldnt tell it by the last 2 years because of lack of talent IMO) Tubby is a much better at making adjustments in games that equaled more success.

And that just shows how little you know about Huggs. Both went after, and lost out a majority of the time, similar style big name recruits only to be left at the alter in the spring and left scrambling. Huggs did take a few more risks in those situations, but both had to do what they could to fill the roster. How do you know what Huggs promised? What did he say to guys like Immanuel MacElroy or Nick Williams or Eric Hicks or Jason Maxiel? He told them they would have to come in and work their tails off to earn a spot on the floor the same as Tubby told Daniels, Hayes, Fitch and so on. And let's not act like Tubby recruited all choir boys to UK. You know that's a flat out lie. Plain and simple. Tubby won a title and Bob got to a Final 4 before losing to a team that cheated and was stripped of their banners. Both got to several Elite 8's. The winning percentage was very similar. You're flat out wrong on this one...

You're flat out wrong on this one... I have honestly talked with high school coaches who have had players who were recruited by Huggins and Tubby. Trust me they were a lot different. As for similar players recruited there is always going to be a few that cross paths but the only 1 I know for certain is Jason Maxiel. And also Tubby changed the types of players he recruited after the whole Desmond Allison, Rahard Carruth projects failed. And as for their success, Tubby's teams have never done worse than the round of 32. I can only remember 1 Bob Huggins team going to the round of 32 in the past 6 or 7 years. Is that correct? Their success levels recently have definitly been far different!

Yes he slipped a little in his last 5 or so years, and that was also about the time he started having issues in his personal life. Tubby was following the same trend as Bob, and it was a good idea to leave when he did. In this day and age 10 years is about the maximum life at any one school. And now let's hear what coaches had players recruited by both and how they were different...

That is an absurd comment! As for recruiting differences, Huggins will tell you a lot more of what you want to hear when Tubby will be completely honest (which hurt Tubby).
April 13, 200719 yr Jim Calhoun, Jim Boehiem, Coach K, Lute Olsen, Billy Donovan, Tom Izzo need to all hit the road then? That is an absurd comment! Calhoun missed the dance. Boehiem missed this year and would have missed last year if not for the heroics of G Mac. K has been in a big down turn. Arizona has not been the same in years. I don't even need to get into what Izzo has done over the last 5 years again. Billy D is at year 11 and in a few years I strongly believe we will look back and say he should have left after this season. Absurd? Only to you...

WEAK!
