April 6, 200719 yr But what about his style of play???? Excellent DEFENSE !!! Texas A&M's defense was one of the best in the country. He is also reported as one of the best recruiters in the country. Gillispies teams in the last two seasons were voted the nations most improved - UTEP and Texas A&M, he turned both programs around. This guy and Belein were at the top of my wish list. (including Donovan)

April 6, 200719 yr Not very often at all. :thumb: Many may get out of their LOIs, but a suprisingly small number follow the coach.

A couple might folow him IF he comes to U.K., I don't think that all of them would. Lets just not jump the gun on getting him and hope that we do. :thumb:
April 6, 200719 yr This guy is a winner. The only coach to be the coach of the national most improved program in 2 straight seasons (UTEP then Texas A&M). I like him and hope that this is the one! If not, I will cheer for whomever. But this guy has a short but VERY impressive resume. In 2 years at A&M, his recruiting classes were top 15 both seasons, .... at Texas A&M. WKYT reports that Mitch obtained permission to speak with Billy G this evening at 7pm. He appears to be #1 on UK's list right now by the news reports and that is a VERY good thing!

He wouldn't be embraced as warmly as Donovan, but he would garner a ton of support from the fanbase, and most likely given enough time to make his mark (at UK that means 3 years)...

And there is the key to his system. It's a lot more aggressive from half court and creates more havoc than the ball line D...

An up tempo offense is more exciting to watch (more entertaining) and that's why I watch basketball, entertainment. An up tempo doesn't mean throwing up bad shots. I just don't like a grind it out defensive style (AKA Tubby style) that's what I watch football for, defense. But that's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions..............

His track record proves he's capable of that. I'm okay with Billy G.! I'd be extremely happy....Back when I first found out that Tubby wasn't returning, I said I wanted Gillispie first and foremost. Donovan would have been great, but Billy G. is the one I want. :thumb:
