ESPN reporting that Barnes was not next on the list after Billy D but Billy G is.

They say it will probably be announced as early as tomorrow that he will be UK's next coach. On that note, I'm going to bed.

Personaly Im excited, he would probably have been my second choice along with Matta after Billy D. I am happy and hope they land him, and I have been coached around guys who dont care and dont prepare and guys that does enought to do good and guys that will go the extra mile. And trust me it really makes you have more respect and go the extral mile as a player if you hav ea coach working that hard.

He was my guy before Tubby even left.. Saw an interivew on Cold Pizza and just really liked him.

 

I figured it would be either him or Jay Wright after I heard Tubby was leaving... And I like Gillispie a lot more.

 

It would be a great hire IMO.

It's not like UK is going to have to settle for chopped liver. While Donovan, for many reaons, was evidently behind door number one; there are any number of eminently qualified coaches who should be able to get superior talent to Lexington and then coach 'em up.

It looks like Barnhart has set his sights on having a coach named Billy and won't stop until he has one. Billy D? No. Lets move on to Billy G.

I think Billy D was plan A and Gillespe was plan B not Barnes. Supposedly that was why he pulled his name out.

As for Gillespe being a workaholic, that is great as far as preparation but he will age very quickly here. Look at Tubby when he started and now. He aged pretty bad.

For what it's worth, even the news has reported Billy G has Plan C....either way UK is getting a great coach...and likely at a decent price as well.

Jodie Meeks has the intangibles that could make him an All-American....all he needs is that tenacious off season hard work. I imagine he has the heart for it...but non of us know.
