April 3, 200719 yr This is my take on Pitino talking to Donovan... Pitino is telling Billy not to take the UK job...He'd have to compete with Rick, be under constant scrutiny that NOBODY deserves, and have some at Florida feel that he turned their back on them by going to another team in the conference...He's also telling him, "Look Billy, stay in Florida...In 5-7 years, there will be an opening at Louisville, and that will be the job for you..." What will be the going rate for Billy's services by then.......6,7,8 million a year??
April 3, 200719 yr What will be the going rate for Billy's services by then.......6,7,8 million a year?? The University will have to build him a half million dollar house, then pay him $4.5 mil./per year...
April 3, 200719 yr Took a look see on gatorbait message board to see what was being said there and found this *****Attention ALL POSTERS*** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ANY AND ALL BILLY D POSTS WILL BE LOCKED, AND POSTERS WILL BE BANNED FOR POSTING Kind of found it funny, guess they have had it up to their ears in Uk fans over running their board LOL, WOW! Touchy sensitive people down in Florida.
April 3, 200719 yr And that makes it a fact? I heard Tubby say he wasn't going anywhere either. The only fact is that none of us know what he is going to do. I would hope his mouth is more reliable than a bunch of shady sources on this website. Would you want a coach that is not being honest already..What happens if he is the UK coach and is spewing the same stuff when other jobs are available.
April 3, 200719 yr guess they have had it up to their ears in Uk fans over running their board We should invade them, as UK fans do at any away basketball games. This morning at 3:30am there were 2,500 on the UK site, and only 80 on the Florida site, all time record for UK was over 13,000, for Florida is was like 2,000  Annex the Florida boards, lol
April 3, 200719 yr "There's a great feeling in my heart for Kentucky because that's where I began my career and I have great respect for the tradition there," Donovan said. "But you know what, that was a while ago. We're going on 13 years removed from that. It's not like it's been one or two years removed." LINK Let the games begin. Enough said. Billy obviously wants to build his own tradition and legacy which he has done at Florida. Before he started at Florida the program had never been to the final 4. In his 11 year reign they've had 9 20 win seasons, been to 3 final fours, and won 2 national championships. Face it guys...Billy D is King of Basketball at Florida. Quit comparing him to football and Meyer. Coming to Uk would have him compared to Pitino, Rupp, and Tubby all the time both good pros and cons. And if he doesn't take the program back to where it was 10 years ago, we then start seeing "Billy bashing threads."

Would you want a coach that is not being honest already..What happens if he is the UK coach and is spewing the same stuff when other jobs are available. You mean like Pitino and Smith have already done. And like every other coach in America saying the politically correct thing until the deals are done. One thing that has never come out of his mouth is that he is not interested in the job. That is more telling than any words that he says. That said I still think he stays at Florida and is using the UK job as leverage. We will see if it is strictly business or friendship between he and Foley.
April 3, 200719 yr I heard Donovan's voice in MY ears, say that he HAS NOT SPOKEN to anybody at UK or about the job. It was about the kids, and it isn't fair to comment on something that has not been offered. Again, I heard it on his press conference with my own ears. MY ears once heard Thad Matta say he wansn't going to leave Xavier. In todays age, I don't think that you can belive one word that any coach says regarding prospective jobs. I'm not saying Donovan to UK is a done deal, but I'll still consider him a candidate unless UK names a new coach or he signs an extension with UF.
April 3, 200719 yr If the junior all return, and you throw Patterson and Lucas in with them, you have a Florida 3-peat. I think Donovan is going to wait to see what his players are doing before he makes a final decision. But either way I still say Billy D stays.

Geez....it's obvious a UK fan will hear, see, think whatever they wish to be true.....the rest of us...will take a man for what he is saying..not for he has not said. He is getting ready to get a huge raise wherever he may be coaching next year.

April 3, 200719 yr All while having better seasons than the team in Lexington...   That should fire up a few Uk fans.
