April 3, 200719 yr ATLANTA -- West Virginia coach John Beilein has accepted an offer to become Michigan's next coach, CBS SportsLine.com learned Monday night from a source close to the situation. A news conference is expected in the next 48 hours. Beilein comes to Michigan after five years at West Virginia, where he compiled a 104-60 record. He has long been rumored to leave for better opportunities, but a $2.5 million buyout prevented that chance until now. Beilein replaces Tommy Amaker. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/10104587 Huge loss for WVU.
April 3, 200719 yr Reggie Hanson and Scott Rigot are going as a package deal Tubby worked out for them before he left.
April 3, 200719 yr Any ideas on the front runners for this job? This is total scuttlebutt. I heard one of the over night radio guys mention Pelfrey. I don't know if that was his idea or if he heard something.
April 3, 200719 yr Michigan and the Big10 just added another excellent coach in Beilein :thumb: . I really like him and his style of play, wouldn't had minded at all to see him at the helm U.K.. That is now Tubby Smith to Minnesota and Beilein to Michigan, the Big10 just beacame A LOT stronger. Both Smith and Beilein are top tier coaches and will greatly improve their respective programs. I like Beilein too much to see him go to "Meatchicken".

April 3, 200719 yr Hope this doesn't effect former Kentucky boy Cam Thoroughman, who redshirted this year at WVU!
April 3, 200719 yr One thing I think it will knock WVVU out of any hopes of Patterson. I was suprised that out of the jobs he would take that he would take this one. I figured he would leave within the next year just suprised Mihigan, but it is a good move for him.
April 3, 200719 yr Hope this doesn't effect former Kentucky boy Cam Thoroughman, who redshirted this year at WVU! He played at Greenup or Lewis Co.? Which one? I have met this kid before, when he was in Kentucky and I think I recall he was a Kentucky fan. I had no idea he was at WVU! If all else fails, I say we lure him in as a transfer. I wonder if he could play without sitting out a year since he was a redshirt. He is a really great kid. Where did he play when he left the state? Any stats?
April 3, 200719 yr He played at Raceland his freshman year, then moved to Portsmouth and played at Clay High School for Randy Ward. He lived in Lewis and Greenup, played middle school at McKell.
April 3, 200719 yr The latest rumor I heard this morning is what if Bobby Huggins goes to WVU now and takes OJ Mayo, Bill Walker, and Patrick Patterson with him?
April 3, 200719 yr The latest rumor I heard this morning is what if Bobby Huggins goes to WVU now and takes OJ Mayo, Bill Walker, and Patrick Patterson with him?Not happening. None of that makes sense. Walker PLAYED for Kansas State. He'd have to transfer. OJ Mayo isn't going to go play in West Virginia, he wants the LA stage. Bob Huggins has a top 5 recruiting class coming to Manhattan next year. I don't think he'll be heading to Morgantown.
April 3, 200719 yr The latest rumor I heard this morning is what if Bobby Huggins goes to WVU now and takes OJ Mayo, Bill Walker, and Patrick Patterson with him? This didn't come from either your banker friend, or camera man friend did it?
April 3, 200719 yr This didn't come from either your banker friend, or camera man friend did it?  How I love this site, I still remember how everyone talked about the "warning" that was issued after Ashland won their first basketball game this year. Everyone made sure to bring that up for a good two months afterwards. lol Hence why I do my best to sit on the fence and try to avoid picking a side. Makes things easier. : )
