Track The Reds...

Featured Replies

I'm holding judgement on Narron for a while. It's a couple of things:

1) Why doesn't a MLB hitter know that you only bunt strikes on a sac?

2) Why doesn't a MLB manager know that you only bunt strikes on a sac?

3) Why doesn't a MLB 'slugger' "...make a very good bunt attempt?"

4) Why is Narron the only one at fault?

I blame EE for not being able to get a bunt down, but for Narron to take the bunt sign off was just stupid. He preaches and preaches about playing small ball, and being a fundamentaly sound team, and then he pulls a stunt like this, and it cost the Reds a chance to win the ballgame.

I agree about taking the bunt sign off. I just needed verification that it was Narron's call. I would've made him bunt at three attempts or put someone else in to bunt at three attempts.

Although 0-4 and ahead in the count is enticing to your 4/5 hitter. I mean, he's due right? :D

Narron's clueless...

He does occassionally make an OBVIOUS correct move. I don't think it takes the brain of a neurosurgeon to hit valentin for a struggling Ross in that situation.

Actually, it's more than that. He could've hit multiple people and made the right choice. Just giving him his props when due, lord knows you guys do the latter enough...

That's three. He started Harang on Opening Day and came back with Arroyo.

Make that four. He moved Milton out of the #3 spot despite the salary.

He kept three catchers which allows him to pinchhit Valentin. That makes five.

He moved Jr to right. Six.

 Should we start a Jerry Narron bashing thread.

Start???

I just read on the Bottom Line that A. Gonzalez will be out for a week on bereavement leave. I'll guess we'll see J. Castro at short.

Jayson Stark was on Jim Rome's radio show today and gushed about Narron, his managerial style, his handling of the EE situation, and how he's the best manager you've never heard of because he manages in Cincy. I thought he was going to propose to him on-air had Jim not ended the interview.

If that's what Stark says, Narron is clueless...

AGonz will be missed, but Juan Castro is no slouch. I'm glad we kept him as a backup, our infield D isn't going to be vulnerable when things like this come up.

Is Hamilton going to start?

Is Hamilton going to start?

Goodness knows if he doesn't you will see about 28 threads at the start of the game asking why he isn't starting. Keep him in the lineup, he is one of the few that is actually getting hits and scoring runs at this point.
