The scouting reports, can't be that good, because they can't even evaluate their own talent, very well.

Here's something I've been thinking about over the last few weeks. When is the last time you heard anyone on this club talk about "the scouting report"? Is there one? Sure have been a lot of situations it would lead one to believe if there is one it was a) awful or b) ignored...

Dunn missed timed his jump at the wall. Instead of getting to the wall and locating it with his off hand. He lazily drifted back and just stabbed at it. The ball hit about 8-9 ft up on the wall. If you're 6'6 thats not much of leap to grab it. Acatch there saves a couple of runs. But hey he almost got there:creepy:

I agree and this is an area, where the Reds were excellent at, for decades. Not only their own talent, but preparing for upcoming series, hitting situations, pitcher tendencies.

 

Seems little to nothing, is being done. I also blame the inability of the pitchers, to effectively hit their spots, for any pre-scouting to work.

Your dislike for him has become personal. You're not even able to be objective anymore. "Lazily drifted back..." Come on. Most left-fielders would have planted themselves about 15 feet from the wall and turned to play the carom...would you have preferred that?

No way. The ball was hit high and its not like the fence are way back at GABP. I can't think of any left fielders that don't make that catch. Oh and lets just forget his misplay later in the game. No reason to mention that play that a little leaguer makes routinely.

Dunn is 6'-6" and reaches up, probably makes him near 9'± tall and the ball hits, approximately 1' above his glove.

 

The normal RF, has to have a vertical of near 36"±, to even get close. You're "reaching" on this one, like Dunn attempted and I have no problem, with his effort on this one.

I wish we could see a replay on here. Your normal out fielder is pretty short if he has to have a 36" vert to touch 10 feet. Whatever, he failed to make a play and then botched a routine ball later. No heart. no desire. no dedication.

I'm not fitting him for a gold glove, just saying that you're not able to judge him objectively. His simple presence out there so disgusts you that the way he catches fly balls just irks you.

 

If you want to list bad NL defensive outfielders, begin with Bill Hall, Pat Burrell, and Juan Encarnacion. Those three are atrocious.
