Can anyone else remember the last player to so polarize a fan base (speaking of Dunn)?

Frank Robinson.

Junior circa 2001-2006...

Majewski sent down to Louisville. Brad Salmon brought up.

Now you know...

So would Salmon be coming "up interstate?"

Line-Up:

Hatteberg 1b

Phillips 2b

Griffey rf

Dunn lf

Encarnacion 3b

Hamilton cf

Gonzalez ss

Ross c

Belisle p

Junior circa 2001-2006...

IMO Jr has many more supporters than Dunn does today.

Boo.

Hiss.

Gong.

:p

I'm here all week.

He didn't when he was spending 90+ days a season on the DL...

Frank Robinson.

I wasn't around for that, but probably a good one.

I was thinking more about late 80's / early 90's Eric Davis. Couldn't stay healthy. Some loved him for what he could be, others hated him for what he often was (DL'd).

I don't think the disgust for Junior has ever polarized the fan-base like Dunn. People were aggravated that he couldn't stay healthy, and were frustrated, but the attacks on Dunn often cross the line to personal.

Which time? ;):D

2001-2006 like I said... ;)

Agreed. Its as much about perception ("he doesn't hustle", "he's slow", etc) as performance with Dunn. With Griffey, it was more frustration at his inability to get/stay on the field.

If they did polls like they do for the President, Dunn's approval ratings are at an all-time low.

If the only arguments people hung their hats on with Dunn were factual (K's too much, doesn't hit well with RISP, not an above-average LF) I'd never say boo. However, people hang their hats on things that are not necessarily true and are simply the perceptions of (mostly) other people. It's ridiculous.
