Track The Reds...

Featured Replies

That is the frustrating part, they really aren't. They could actually be pretty good and just aren't. I'd feel better if they were lacking any good players...but that isn't the case. I just don't get it.

They had FAR worse teams in the 80's. I mean FAR worse.

There is the problem. The fans have been conned into believing this is a decent team. It is not! Just go down the list by position

1st base: The geriatic duo

2nd: BP good player, stays on my team

Short: Gonzo 1 error less so far than all of last year

3rd: E-5 nough said

C- Ross : Backup player at best. Plus the Reds are carrying 3?

Lf- Dunner: what do you say, 200 stikeouts? defensive liability. Making way too much money

Cf- Do we have a center fielder. Freels OK. Hamilton should be in left

Rf- Jr. He is what he is. An aging HOFer whose salary has bootstrapped the organization.

Starting Pitching: Arroyo, Harang: pray for , well you know where I'm going.

Bullpen-

There you have it. Worst team in baseball:mad:

I had a post that said this roster scared me before the season began when others were saying this is the best roster the Reds had for awhile.

Reason being is that those who had good seasons that the Reds road last year was the ONLY good season they had ever had. Arroyo pitched better last year than he ever had. Harang pitched better last year than he ever had. Ross played out of his mind last season. Phillips had never done anything in the majors before. E-5 was still an unknown quantity and as HSSB correctly points out is more Willie Green than anything. Loshe has shown he could do anything in the past couple years. Belisle hadn't shown anything consistently. Milton is Milton and now he isn't even here. There was a reason why the Reds were able to get Gonzalez. Casey got dumped on for not driving in runs and is Conine/Hatteberg any better but maybe just cheaper. Freel has proven he cannot start a full season and contribute. While he is my favorite player and even running a 1/2 speed, I am steal waiting on Jr to rip something and be out for awhile. Dunn is not going to hit in the clutch. There is nothing in the bullpen that a team like the Tigers would keep.

This team is playing more to the back of their baseball cards as they DIDN'T do last year.

I hope to be proven wrong.

I made the video JUST FOR YOU. Just thrown together using former and current Reds players. Didn't really want to try and capture video, it wasn't THAT important pictures are just fine. But we can all enjoy this song when things start to go bad....AGAIN

keepin it real:banana:

The video that never dies. lol

If I had access to MLBTV on MLB.com, I could capture video and make it better. BUT I guess it still gets the point across.

You have made some very good points here and the way the "Bad News Reds" are playing I can't argue........... Yes we are the Worst team in MLB, imo no question.

I am very pleased with Griffey and Hamlton this season though. Conine has also given us some good playing time, he is an aging player as well and that is about all we could hope for out of him. Imo bc we were still in the race late last season it got everyones hopes up. I know that it did mine. I really feel for Arroyo and Harrang, they are the only 2 (Professional) pitchers on this team and both deserve much better. Like you said about the bullpen.............. Nuff said :irked:

Someone was telling me last night that they have to wait till after the All-Star break to bring up Bailey or he would be a free agent in 2 years or something like that which made no sense at all to me. I thought once you brought them up their clock starts and you have 3 years on the rookie contract?

They were talking about that on Lance this past week....He'd be what's called a "Super 2", and be arbitration eligible after only 2 full seasons.

Apparently a lot of Reds fans believe that is the main reason he isn't on the roster right now. The ownership doesn't want to have to pay him before they absolutely have to.

How do you get classified as a "Super 2". That makes a lot more sense now. 1st round pick?

Not real sure what the qualifications are, but they said if he's up before the break he'd be one.....I had never heard of it either.

This was brought up on another thread. July 1st was the date conveyed as the cutoff.

This is as good of a chance as the Reds may get tonight. They have to close the gap at least a little bit.

This team seems like they're almost trying to lose....

The Reds do not have to "try" to lose. That just comes naturally to a terrible baseball team.
