March 30, 200719 yr Unless Wright is #2 choice behind another coach whose team is still playing. I think that is the key there. I think it's obvious that Billy D. is the #1 choice, but I believe he'll turn it down, and that Wright will be the man.
March 30, 200719 yr Wright would be a good choice, but, so would Gillespie, Matta, Calipari, Pitino, Few, Izzo, Thompson III, Howland, D'antoni and probably 4 to 5 others, who slip my mind...IMO, anyone of the above mentioned caliber, would be fine with me...
March 30, 200719 yr No its not. UK doesn't expect to have a coach that we don't know if he can recruit nationally. I seems like we are replacing being "mediocre" with "mediocre". Pitino didn't recruit nationally. Most of his players came from KY,IN,TN, Il, and NY. He locked down the states east of the Mississippi. Tubby is the coach who got Prince, Hayes, Porter, and Jasper from California. I'd say that if you can lock down the best talent in a good region, it may be better than spreading yourself thin over the whole country.
