March 30, 200719 yr I like Thad Matta the coach. He plays an exciting brand of basketball and he lands great recruits; however, I do not want him at Kentucky. The way that he left Xavier bothers me and that's the sole reason I don't want him here.

March 30, 200719 yr You could not be anymore wrong! He has already signed a stud for 07 with Koufas. Then his 08 class is unheard of! He already has 5 5 star players for 08. If he gets those 5 players, and they all stay at the same level, I would venture to say that in a 3 year period no one in history has gotten the players he has got. Matta is defintily my 2nd choice right now! What does that have anything to do with his class now?

March 30, 200719 yr He was lucky to have to class and you know it. Didn't Oden rule everywhere out except where he was coaching?
March 30, 200719 yr I'd say he was lucky that Mike Davis is an idiot. If IU had been in the picture it likely would have been a lot harder to pry Oden and Conley out of the Hoosier state. If Matta had gone to IU, Oden would have went to IU.
March 30, 200719 yr What am I missing? This is the 2nd time someone has linked "probation" with Matta. Nothing concrete, just a feeling that have about the guy. I believe that he has been under suspicion before at other schools. Kind of like J. Calapari - I don't trust them and just reminds me of trouble waitning to happen. JMO

March 31, 200719 yr There is a smoldering of smoke around Matta that has flown under the radar, regarding the UK situation. Believe me, UK has worked the back channels on a lot of potential candidates and Matta has had a nibble and there is a level of interest on his behalf. Todd Jones, a UK alumn, who is a writer at the Columbus Dispatch was the reporter in question. Jones picked up a couple of UK shirts at the bookstore when he was covering the Buckeyes when he was in Lexington for the first and second round games. Jones told Richard Skinner, that he completely forgot he had that shirt on when he went to the press conference. Skinny said Jones is very quick witted and his reply about the shirt was a good one, just showing that UK is still looking for a coach. Honestly, I think Matta was taken aback by the reporter wearing the shirt. I think he has probably become more guarded about potential positions and handling them after the XU/OSU situation. Someone said he was really blushing when he noticed the reporter...and it was all done in jest.
