It has nothing to do with us thinking he's ours for life as you say...It has to do with the fact that everyone who has said he was going to UK has ZERO proof, not even a reliable source, to make us believe he would even consider the job...

I can't believe anyone thought Pitino was a serious or legit option to be UK's next coach. I never thought those rumors would take off like they did...1) I don't figure he'd be real high on UK's list, if he was on it at all and 2) I can't see even Pitino pulling a move like that...that would just be weird. Plus, talk about a no win situation...Pitino would have to live up to his own legend at UK, which would be impossible. He knows that. There was never anything above a zero chance of him returning to UK, IMO.

Just what part of the Rick Pitino interview yesterday did you not understand?

I did not see the Pitino interview, but with every Pitino interview I have a difficult time differentiating between what is fact and what is fiction.

You should, too!

I kind of liken it to Jordan's last go-round ...

This is laughable, if Billy D comes to UK he MIGHT be 2nd behind Rupp or Pitino, thats better than 2nd in your own school currently behind Football. UF wins the NC and cant do any better than 1 sell out and 500 following to the NCAA?

Well said, these are my thoughts exactly. Billy D might love Florida and Florida's program, but I really feel that he wouldn't want to stay in Urban Meyer's shadow, which he will as long as Florida football continues to have the success they have been.

Like I said people haven't been comparing Tubby to Rupp for 10 years. It was Pitino Tubby couldn't live up to. Most UK fans have never seen Rupp coach. The new coach will have to live up to what Pitino accomplished at UK to be accepted.
As Pitino had to live up to Rupp's accomplishments. As did Joe B. Hall and Eddie Sutton.

Who defines UK basketball? You can use whoever you like, but the building and court say Rupp on them, not Pitino.

Besides, Pitino Area sounds funny.:D

I am just saying Pitino has set the bar for all future coachs at UK.

Apparantley Tubby Smith has set the bar now for all future coaches at UK. Nobody wants the job anymore. Hey, for 2 million a year, I'll take it.

Once again, Pitino is not going to bail on what figures to be a top-five team next year. That's just asinine.

Does his track record tell you that? Pitino left Kentucky after back-to-back national championship appearances.

He'll be at Louisville next year, undoubtedly; however, to say he won't leave a top-five team is absolutely false.

Don't Tubby supporters all the time claim that Pitino couldn't have won the '98 title with those players?

Not that he couldn't, but that it isn't a given he would have.

BTW, I for one am glad you guys have him....He's a bit shady and it's good to have some instate competition...

What that does that have to do with the question I asked?

Anyway, I'll play along & answer. I've never personally heard that argument, considering that many people (myself included) feel that the '98 team turned it on in the 2nd half against Duke when they started to do what they know best - play basketball the way Pitino recruited them to play.

I do not want Pitino back at Kentucky. I don't understand why people are so obsessed with the past - he moved on, and so have I. I don't think that Pitino is the answer at Kentucky. Nor is John Calipari.

IMO UK has someone signed. If they didnt, I think they would update us on who hey are looking at and so on. Since none of that is happening, they are waiting for a Certain coach (Billy) to finish out the season. If they dont land Billy it is going to hurt a lot considering the players that we are not getting in the 2007-2008 class. I think if they are going to wait to go after Billy (unless they got him already) They better get him. The thing with getting him is the players that are going go commit to UK. He IMO is almost priceless. If you understand any of that?
