Could someone please tell me if they heard any mention of Billy D and the Miami Heat ? I really think I heard the guys from PTI mention it today...

Anyone else heard anything of this ? Or did I not hear correctly ?

OH, you have to have proof. Well why didn't you say so.

That or a fax....:D:p

Louisville returns everybody from last year, and he wants to taste the glory again. And "his recruits" were really mostly role players who played good defense and were unselfish. How many first-rounders came out after 1997's runner-up finish?

It's completely asinine. Were he to do such a thing, it would be after Louisville's current group of freshmen decide it's time to bolt, which may not be very long, given their arc of improvement last year. Going on 55, the guy's not too far off from retirement, especially considering his various health problems in recent years. It doesn't make sense to go undertaking a major rebuilding job right now.

I don't know about NBA first rounders. That doesn't make a whole lot of difference because we can only speculate as to how many first rounders there will be on the Louisville team.

Six players off the 1998 spent time in the NBA, four are still playing nearly ten seasons later, one is an all-star.

Do you think that Rick's current Louisville team will have this kind of NBA success? I think not!

 Your in for a rude awakening:laugh:

It will not be a rude awakening for me! I personally want Billy Donovan to be the next coach at Kentucky.

T-Will, Sosa, Clark and Caracter are almost guaranteed time in the NBA, IMO...David Padgett could definitley see some time, depending on how his knees hold up, Jerry Smith will more than likely be drafted in a lower round some day...

If Rupp is UK basketball then why have we been seeing Tubby compared to Pitino ever since he arrived at Lexington. Yes, Rupp built UK into the program it is but He hasn't coached in 30+ years. I have never seen him coach and can barely remember Hall coaching. Pitino is who every UK coach will be compared to not Rupp. I agree with Smith and K and for now will give you Wooden. But UK is Pitino.

Pitino is not UK basketball.

Why does everyone think UK is the job of a lifetime. Rupp built UK into what it is. ANYONE that coaches at UK will always be 2nd to Rupp no matter what he does. John Wooden built UCLA into what it is. ANYONE that coaches there will always be 2nd to him. Dean Smith at North Carolina and Coach K and Duke. It's never going to change at those schools. Your always 2nd best.

If Billy D stays at Florida, when it's all said and done and he continues the way he is now, He will be what defines the Gators program . He will be the Rupp, Wooden or Smith of the Gators program. To me that seems like a job of a life time. The only thing 2nd place is to anyone is 1st loser.

This is laughable, if Billy D comes to UK he MIGHT be 2nd behind Rupp or Pitino, thats better than 2nd in your own school currently behind Football. UF wins the NC and cant do any better than 1 sell out and 500 following to the NCAA?

I like and agree with this post!

Billy Donovan is a family man and will not ever become a gypsy be taking an NBA job.

He'll keep his Florida job with NBA-like pay.

Pitino is not UK basketball.

Like I said people haven't been comparing Tubby to Rupp for 10 years. It was Pitino Tubby couldn't live up to. Most UK fans have never seen Rupp coach. The new coach will have to live up to what Pitino accomplished at UK to be accepted.

I just heard the next UK coach will be Happy Osbourne.:D;)

Everyone keep this in mind while watching any Rick Pitino/Billy Donovan interview. I find it strange that many people do not remember that just ten years ago, Rick Pitino could not ever tell the truth. He still can't. I have been made aware that Rick Pitino will be UK's next coach. It all makes sense when you really think about it. Ricky P. is Billy the Kid's mentor......Billy would not make a major decision like this without consulting with Rick. Billy would not take the UK job because Rick wants the UK job. Rick is now helping Billy get Florida and Jeremy Foley to ante up......all the while lying through his teeth.......again!

Pitino is not thrilled about living in Lexington, but he will be UK's next basketball coach. I have been told that one Rex Chapman is in the mix as well. He wants to be a head coach and learn it through Pitino kind of like Reggie Theus did.

The timing for the announcement (the real word, not Rick's word) I have told will be late this week. I would speculate it will be early next week after the Final Four, but that is just me trying to think of the best time for all parties involved to get the money right. If Florida wins it again, it might cost the Gator athletic department up to four million a year for Billy Donovan.

Just what part of the Rick Pitino interview yesterday did you not understand?

That was quite a dance...

He could end all the speculation if wanted to with a few well chosen words. The hype about his coming to UK will continue until Billy ends it one way or the other. I can not believe he would string out UK or UF because he is a class guy and has no reason to hurt either school.

Maybe he doesnt want to lie?
