Billy D. Or Rick Barnes

Featured Replies

I sure hope the Cats can somehow get Billy D. If not, I believe it will be Rick Barnes from Texas.

I most definitely hope they don't get Rick Barnes... Only candidate that I've heard mentioned that I would take Barnes over is Ford.

Not big on Rick Barnes. He can recuit, and recruit well. BUT, and I say but, he cannot establish consistency in his teams, win in the tournament, or get his guys to stay in school. Those are three big knocks, and because of that I don't like him to be our next coach. He still has plenty of time in his career to get this wrongs righted, and I think he is a good enough coach to do it, but right now I don't think he is ready to take over the reigns of Kentucky.

Rick Barnes would be a great choice for the Cats.

For any UK that wanted Barnes before, that endorsement should be enough to scare you off. :D

I've heard that Barnes has already said he is not interested, at all. Maybe it's just a plot to try and keep Durant in Texas....

I really hope Barnes isn't on the short list. He seems like a nice enough guy and he can really recruit. However, if you think UK fans were hard on Tubby what do you think would happen if he had blown leads of 17 and 23 points in two games over a span of 8 days with both the regular season and tourney championships on the line? How in the world he could forget that he had the best player in the country on his team during those games is beyond me. That showed me all I needed to see about his coaching right there. In the 2nd game all Kansas did was have Rush pick Durant up out on the floor and Barnes didn't move him down to the block where he'd shoot over him or dray a double or triple team leaving his 3pt shooters open? He just doesn't seem like a very solid game coach that has control of his team on the court.

1) Billy D.

2) Billy G.

3) Jay Wright

4) Mark Few

Calipari hasn't shown me he can do anything, and it seems he's had plenty of opportunity.

And let's take a look at who he's playing.

2 games every year against each of the following:

Santa Clara

St. Mary's

San Francisco

San Diego

Loyola Marymount

Portland

Pepperdine

He's a good coach and they beat some good teams OOC, but his win % gets greatly inflated playing in the WCC.

Nice numbers Jumper but you've just compared the WCC to the Big East, ACC and Big 12. How do you think Barnes numbers would look as the top dog in an average mid major conference???
