March 23, 200719 yr Why should Donovan come to Lexington? There are a few reasons, whether you want to believe it or not.
March 23, 200719 yr For people who want Calapari why? I mean yes he is a great recruiter, and he already gets the best recruits. But how many final fours has he been to? Thats right just one, and if he loses to OSU saturday, it will be another time coming up short. And remember elite 8's just dont cut it, or atleast that is what you say about Tubby. So why do you want a guy who already gets top recruits and yet still has only been to one final four. I mean if he is getting top recruits all the time, and still only one final four, that must mean he must not be doing something right... No comments?
March 23, 200719 yr There are a few reasons, whether you want to believe it or not. One reason that I could think of.
March 23, 200719 yr Tubby already was or was top 2... old news. Yes but Tubby is no longer here. The new coach will not be old news.
March 23, 200719 yr One reason that I could think of. There are a few "upgrades" possible at Kentucky.
March 23, 200719 yr One reason that I could think of. Money talks and UK has a lot to talk about. Not too mention all the amazing perks of working for UK. Treated like a king, free cars, country club memberships... the whole 9. I could see UK doubling the pay of any current coach at his current school to get him.
March 23, 200719 yr this is a 3 year setback, no matter which way people would like to spin it. Quick Case Study: 2002-2003 - UNC - Matt Doherty - 19-16 - NIT berth 2003-2004 - UNC - Roy Williams - 19-11 - NCAA 2nd Round 2004-2005 - UNC - Roy Williams - 33-4 - NCAA Champions So all you people saying the program is automatically set back without having the faintest idea who UK's coach will be next year are WISHING. Sure, its possible that the next year (or two) will be just as bad or worse than this year, but its also possible that they will be no worse, and possibly much better. Also, who's to say what Tubby would have done had he stayed? He could have lost 15 games next year.
March 23, 200719 yr Whomever the new UK coach is one thing is fact. Over the last 10 years, that new coach will have had LESS success than Tubby over the last 10 years.

Do you really want to compare the Freshman and sophomores on that UNC team and what UK has now?
March 23, 200719 yr The people throwing Pitino's name out there are insane. Rick was HURT at how he was treated by UK fans upon his return. He never expected the venom to reach the level it did, which was probably a little niave on his part (not a dig on UK fans, it'd be the same in any high level rivalry.)
