March 23, 200719 yr It wouldn't as bad if he didn't try to play people like Thomas, and Woo. Because those two couldn't start for Eastern Kentucky.
March 23, 200719 yr I know your a Tubby backer and upset tonight so im gonna let you cool off before you really post. You are a solid poster. But 2 NBA first round picks ind 10 years and no final 4's in what 9 is not a coincidence man. Don't worry I think we will be back on top soon. Thats what we both want right? No Im fine! I mean I would have liked to see him stay because I believe he would have turned it around starting next season. However I think this is going to end up being good for both parties here...I just defeding Tubby here because people are saying stuff that is just not true, and it started by that first post I commented of yours...

Its just my personal belief that Tubby isn't designed for a BIG TIME program. He did well at Tulsa and Georgia... but doing well doesn't work at UK. This is the most historic program in college basketball. Greatness is expected... As for Tubby hopefully he can do well once again at UM.
March 23, 200719 yr Its a tough lump to swallow you have been on me for a long time about Tubby, but the tribe have spoken.. sorry. Exactly.
March 23, 200719 yr People please stop bringing guys who are stars on their team and saying "what if"...Chris would not be the player he is if hes at UK and not UT and the same with Brewer...Now what if Brandon Stockton went to UC or Josh Carrier went to UT and was doing the same things Lofton and Brewer and everybody else UK missed on...we would not be having this discussion...And to make a good point: I think the program personally went down when Narnhardt became AD after C.M. Newton...The A.D. plays a part as well as the Coach...Maybe the UK fans should be wanting him to resign or leave instead of Tubby...But i'll guess we'll see in the future which decision was best

I'm not so sure the point is good.
March 23, 200719 yr C.M. Newton cared more about the basketball team nobody really cared about the other sports...Basketball is what UK is about not those other sports
March 23, 200719 yr There is now winner in a war of attrition. Just alot of damage all around and some stroked egos on one side. Best post in this thread... :thumb:
March 23, 200719 yr Heres my take on it... Tubby is a 5 star coach, he is a class act and nobody can deny that. I just don't his style of play was right for Kentucky to be honest...
March 23, 200719 yr I really do feel sorry for the next Coach at UK if he has to put up with what Tubby has these past 2 Years I'll never feel sorry for anyone who makes over a million dollars to oversee the playing of a game. But hey,, that's just how I roll.
March 23, 200719 yr TWO YEARS PEOPLE! Two years is the only years really that Tubby brought in recruits that really should have never been here! Alot of you all act like he has done it his whole time him, and that is just not the truth and its time you all realized that. He brought in two bad classes, and they just happen to end up on the same team, and we haven't done that great, and that is why we have noticed it. But dont everyone keep acting like this is something that has always gone on. Yeah Tubby screwed up with those classes, and those classes shouldn't have been here at UK. However I think Tubby did realize that, and was seen by having a good freshman class this year, and as we just found out was probably going to get two mcdonald all americans next year in lucas and patterson as they were going to verbal to us in the mcdonald all american game. So yeah I know I have even said Tubby needed to do better recruiting and be more consistent because he cant have classes like the 03 and 05 class, especially so close to each other. But please stop acting like this is something that went on the whole time, because it is not the truth... I'm not sure I would concider the Frosh class this year as all that good. Aside from Meeks everyone else is a project. I'm not saying they can't be good, but they are projects. Also most folks (recruiting experts and media) were saying that we were not going to get Patterson and only had an outside shot at Lucas.
March 23, 200719 yr Thank you for your post. Anyone who talks down to Tubby Smith is ridiculous. Tubby is a top five coach in the nation. That said, I don't think he was a good fit for UK. Think about it: He built the programs up at Tulsa and Georgia and took them to Sweet Sixteens out of nowhere. That's what he can do for a program. He is the best in the world at taking a poor team and building up a good program. Kentucky was in their prime when he came along. Those teams in the late 90's were amazing and won't be duplicated. There was nowhere to go but done. He just is not a flashy coach who shines in the spotlight. But that does not make him a failure. I think Nolan Richardson would take issue with saying Tulsa was nowhere. He left it in pretty good shape 2 years prior to Tubby going there. In fact the year before Tubby arrived, Tulsa won 18 games. They were already a solid program. Same for Georgia. The year before Tubby arrived there, the Bulldogs won 18 games. Not the best, but a solid record in the SEC. I would have to argue that neither of these teams was poor/nowhere. They were solid programs.
March 24, 200719 yr What head coach can UK bring in to snag talents like: Sheray Thomas Woo Shegari Allenye Adam Williams Jared Carter Brandon Stockton Josh Carrier And also have the forsight to pass on duds like - Brewer and Lofton? Where does UK go from here? Another revisionist classless post.
