March 23, 200719 yr TWO YEARS PEOPLE! Two years is the only years really that Tubby brought in recruits that really should have never been here! Alot of you all act like he has done it his whole time him, and that is just not the truth and its time you all realized that. He brought in two bad classes, and they just happen to end up on the same team, and we haven't done that great, and that is why we have noticed it. But dont everyone keep acting like this is something that has always gone on. Yeah Tubby screwed up with those classes, and those classes shouldn't have been here at UK. However I think Tubby did realize that, and was seen by having a good freshman class this year, and as we just found out was probably going to get two mcdonald all americans next year in lucas and patterson as they were going to verbal to us in the mcdonald all american game. So yeah I know I have even said Tubby needed to do better recruiting and be more consistent because he cant have classes like the 03 and 05 class, especially so close to each other. But please stop acting like this is something that went on the whole time, because it is not the truth... Thank you for your post. Anyone who talks down to Tubby Smith is ridiculous. Tubby is a top five coach in the nation. That said, I don't think he was a good fit for UK. Think about it: He built the programs up at Tulsa and Georgia and took them to Sweet Sixteens out of nowhere. That's what he can do for a program. He is the best in the world at taking a poor team and building up a good program. Kentucky was in their prime when he came along. Those teams in the late 90's were amazing and won't be duplicated. There was nowhere to go but done. He just is not a flashy coach who shines in the spotlight. But that does not make him a failure. Tubby-bashers have been classless through this whole ordeal. The Big Blue Nation handled this very poorly. Sure you got your way, but we lost a lot of respect across the nation. Kind of reminds me how the USA has lost respect around the world during the war. I actually think that Tubby needed to leave just for a change of scenery, but the lack of respect for him by UK fans has been very disappointing. I feel very bad for whoever they get to take his spot.

If you dont produce in the workplace they wont hesitate to get rid of you, why should he be an exception, making a million dollars a year.

Much like some of our posters.

Tubby's a class act, but UK has been unranked the last two years, thats not UK basketball. People wouldn't be so upset if we were top 15 or even top 20, but we're not. 99% don't expect titles every 3 years, but they expect more than Tubby has been providing. You have to admit this.

March 23, 200719 yr This is an afwul thread...ok Tubby has had some players that werent that great...what coach in America doesnt?.,...and as far as Lofton goes since im sure all of you would have took the 2 STAR recruit OVER THE 5 STAR McDonalds all american...Yes Lofton is a great player but no one knew he would be that good...I mean put your self in his shoes...2 star? 5 star? who you want...make all the excuses you want thats the fact of the matter...He got the number 1 recruiting class that year give it a break!

During his 10 years he had 2 bad years recruiting, and usually you can make up for one bad year because you would have 3 good classes around it. He just happened to have two right by each other, and that is what hurt the most. For the most part he brought in good recruits, and to act like he always brought in guys who really couldn't play much is just wrong. Yeah he shouldn't have had 2 bad classes by each other like that, and that is his fault. But he has seemed like he was doing better, and was going to have 2 Mcdonald all americans in this year as well. He was going to get this program back on track. March 23, 200719 yr I can very quickly think of 3 bad classes. This year's sophomores and Seniors, and last years Seniors. That's 3 out of the last 5 that he wiffed on.
