March 23, 200719 yr I can very quickly think of 3 bad classes. This year's sophomores and Seniors, and last years Seniors. That's 3 out of the last 5 that he wiffed on. Lets see last years seniors he brought in a Ky boy like people wanted who was a Mr. Basketball. Brought in another Ky by letting him transfer here in Sparks. Brought in a NBA player in Azuibuike, and then yet another Ky boy in Moss. I may be forgetting someone. But either way he brought in the type of people many people say they want, he brought in a guy who can shoot in sparks, brought in a NBA type player in Azuibuike, Mr. Basketball in ky. So he gave us everything people asked for in that class, yet some of you all still complain....
March 23, 200719 yr Yep and most coaches would have said no to them as well if they had 2 mcdonald all american guards coming in already, and another guard ranked ahead of atleast Lofton... Great post...How many other coaches think gave them a shot?...exactly not just Tubby people...get over it he wasnt that bad no matter how bad you guys miss Rick!

If you're hanging your hat on Carrier and walk on Moss, you're recruiting expectations will fit in well at Minnesota. I'll give you Azubuike, but outside him, was OTS asleep for 3 out of 4 years?
March 23, 200719 yr All of those coaches who didnt say no still have jobs tonight and are still playing in March :thumb: Well lets see Bruce Pearl didn't say yes. The only reason why he has lofton is because Buzz Peterson had a guy leave in the spring, and left him having to scramble to find a guy at the last minute in the spring. So pretty much every big program in the nation was passing on Lofton, and UT just picked him because they had to have another guard. As for Brewer, well that just didn't work out we should have got him, once again if those coaches could have had the guys we had coming in they would have said no to him as well. Now for Byars, if I am correct he transferred to Vandy, so that means Stallings didn't say yes to him out of high school. So the only point you have there is on Brewer...

Its a tough lump to swallow you have been on me for a long time about Tubby, but the tribe have spoken.. sorry.

Could you not read what I said? I said Sparks was a transfer we got! Was Carrier on last years team? Also people say Tubby needed to bring in are Mr. Basketball player every year, well he did that with Stockton. Also top coaches do have transfers some time, and so he ended up getting a top not shooter in Sparks that everyone says is types of players he needed to get. Then he brought us that NBA player in Azuibuike. So yeah that class had ALL the things alot of you all say Tubby needed to get in recruiting. Just not having Azuibuike for his senior season is what really killed that team...

March 23, 200719 yr Bruce Pearl recruited Lofton to Tennessee while he was coaching at UWM???Wow, that was nice of him... The point is he was Tubby's to lose. I know you guys are pretty down on life tonight. But sorry.... the expectationers won the war.

March 23, 200719 yr Its a tough lump to swallow you have been on me for a long time about Tubby, but the tribe have spoken.. sorry. What nothing to say back once you seen what you said was wrong about the coaches saying yes??? Also yeah I have been on you, but as you have said before I have been one of the reasonable guys when it came to backing Tubby. My whole argument here is that you said when Tubby brings in guys like Thomas, Woo, Shargari, and Perry to Minnesota, they will be just fine. Which was pretty much saying he bring in alot of classes like that, and I was arguing the fact because that is not true, because most of the classes he brings in is not like that...
March 23, 200719 yr The point is he was Tubby's to lose. I know you guys are pretty down on life tonight. But sorry.... the expectationers won the war. There is now winner in a war of attrition. Just alot of damage all around and some stroked egos on one side.

I know your a Tubby backer and upset tonight so im gonna let you cool off before you really post. You are a solid poster. But 2 NBA first round picks ind 10 years and no final 4's in what 9 is not a coincidence man. Don't worry I think we will be back on top soon. Thats what we both want right?
March 23, 200719 yr Stockton really helps your argument, excellent point. :thumb: Sarcastic are we? I just bringing up the points that alot of you all have said about Tubby's recruiting. We have heard alot that he needs more Ky boys and should bring in the Mr. Basketball every year and he did that. We here he never brings in pure shooters, and yeah he didn't recruit sparks, but he did allow him to transfer here, so we had are shooter in that class. Then people he needs to bring in NBA type players, and well that was Azuibuike, so yeah by what everyone says Tubby needed to do, he did with that class. And that class would have been just fine and done very well for UK if Azuibuike would have stayed, but unfortunately he had some family problems which forced him to leave early...So as I said there has only been 2 bad classes he brought in. Which as I said before I am not defending him on those because he shouldn't have brought those classes in. However alot of you all acting like he always brought in bad classes is just not true, and there really isn't much of an argument here for you...
March 23, 200719 yr If you can't see the decline of the program for the last few years, you're choosing not to. Tubby's a class act, but UK has been unranked the last two years, thats not UK basketball. People wouldn't be so upset if we were top 15 or even top 20, but we're not. 99% don't expect titles every 3 years, but they expect more than Tubby has been providing. You have to admit this. You misunderstood me. I totally can see the decline of the program. The point of my post was to express how Tubby does not deserve to be bashed. We could have talked about a need for change with the bashing. Makes us look bad.
