I would say the coach will be hired within the next 10-14 days from what I'm hearing. The only other thing I can tell you is that 20+ people applied for the job.

Here are a few names that have been floating around in Mt. Sterling. There is no frontrunner as far as I know.

There is another head coach in the 10th region who is interested in the job, but I'm not sure if he's applied, so I can't state his name.

 

All of those guys have head coaching experience. That's why I said it's not looking good for assistant from Scott Co., but you never know.

Not so quick with this statement. With the possiballity of coaches to take the helm at Montgomery, the 40th could become very hard to get out of with Humphreys and Mike Flynn already coaches.

If Allen Hatcher were to be hired, would this be the best district in the state as far as quality of coaches?

I think the big thing for the Scott Co. assistant is that he has coaching experience beyond high school....

If this 10 year record is correct the schedule is weak. Looking at this years schedule it does not appear that weak.

 

Excluding mandatory games against Paris and Bourbon County, this year's schedule included Powell County, Deming, Menifee County (twice), Augusta, Bracken County, Bath County (twice), Magoffin County, Webster County, Estill County, St. Patrick, and Nicholas County.

Who did they interview?

The SC assistant, Griesser has interviewed for the job. From what I hear there are four interviews and they have already taken place...not sure who the other interviewees were but from what I hear they are small school coaches with experience.

I know Griesser has experience in college and high school, winning titles at both levels. This has got to count for as much as coaching at a small school.

Question: Do you entrust a program that is trying to lure the region tournament away from Mason Co. with a multi-million dollar gym and hopes of a big time program to a small school coach with head coaching experience or to an assistant with great credentials and knowledge of success at a big time program without head coaching experience?

 

I go with the assistant...If he gets a chance he will win!
