Jai Lucas

Jai Lucas is getting closer to a decision. I am very excited about UK having a chance at such a great recruit. This guy is a 5 star recruit in my book. He has excellent leadership skills, plays with emotion, and knows how to play the game. I love how Lucas plays with heart and plays TEAM oriented basketball. Lucas along with Meeks, Stevenson, and A.J Stewart would be exciting to watch in a couple years. Right behind Lucas, UK has a excellent chance at Darius Miller, Aminu and Kenny Frease. Tubby Smith has this program headed in the right direction. Everyone seems to forget some of the teams Tubby has put together in the past. Chuck Hayes is good friends with fellow Rocket John Lucas III. This is Jai Lucas brother and I am sure this does not hurt considering how much Chuck Hayes loves the UK program. Chuck Hayes moves on to the NBA and still does not forget Tubby Smith and the University of Kentucky. The RUMOR is Lucas has it narrowed down to UK and Maryland. Regardless if Lucas is wearing Kentucky on his chest next year, I will be rooting for him. I look for the decision to be made over the next 2 weeks.

Let's see, 30 wins and the #1 overall seed a few years ago...to back to back ten loss seasons. What direction is that again?

Name a team that doesnt have a few bad years here and there? Its not just UK everyone!

Are his and PP's high school seasons over?

Not sure on Lucas but Pattersons season was over last night. They won the WV AAA State Championship and Mayo had 41 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists. Not sure on Patricks numbers.

So they're still UK...that's fine. Is the sky falling? No. Can the rebound from this stretch? Of course. But when they've had back-to-back twelve loss seasons, then its not "heading in the right direction."

Lucas team lost out a few weeks ago. Thats what made him able to come to the senior night game against Georgia.

Maybe the same direction as Duke?

Someone posted on another thread in Boys Basketball Forum that Patterson has told friends that he plans on announcing that Florida is his college choice. If this is true it's not good for UK. They've recently lost out in the recruiting of Tyler Hansbourgh, Thaddeus Young, Brandon Wright, and now Patrick Patterson. The UK staff is getting into a habit of not being able to land these high profile power forwards, and I'm afraid it's going to have a snowball effect in future recruiting efforts.

The poster said that Patterson had named some reasons why he wasn't coming to UK, but he didn't go into detail about them in his post.

You wouldn't be trying to stir it up would you?

NO....he said that Tubby had the program headed in the right direction. Back to back twelve loss seasons a few years after a 30 win season, and a bunch of years after their last Final Four is not headed in the right direction. That's all, nothing more, nothing less.

He said that right after naming several recruits he thought UK had a great shot at. Everybody knows UK's achilles heel is recruiting, and that has been the one area everyone cites that Tubby needs to improve. I took it that he meant the recruiting was improving, and that is headed in the right direction.

^ I can buy that. But let me ask this, if UK doesn't land Lucas or Patterson, where does their class stand then?
