March 17, 200719 yr NO not IMO. I think he is back no matter what and if that's not the case then I sure as heck hope that we are never content with only winning a first round game and hope to hang in a second round game!
March 17, 200719 yr Author I thought this was clear by now. Apparently its not. Who cleared it up? Barnhardt? That comment didn't sound to convincing to me. I think this game was very important to Tubby's future at UK. Imagine the uproar if UK would have gotten beat by 10 or 15 points. The people of KY already want his resignation on Barnhardt's desk, I for one am not one of those people. Yet.
March 17, 200719 yr If Tubby doesn't come back it will be his decision not to do so. I think it will be a decision based on family issues. (health of parents).

Let Kansas beat them by 20 or better Sunday and watch the uproar!!! An 8 seed is not acceptable! Better to be a 10 playing a 7!!! At least you don't get #1 2nd round!!!
March 17, 200719 yr Author I'm still on the fence about Tubby. Who could have ever imagined that this junior class would have turned out the way they have, there was nothing but dreams of championships when they signed. It will be interesting to see what happens with this year's frosh class and how they develope. If Tubby is our coach next year, the next 2 up-coming recruit classes are very important to the future of UK b-ball and Tubby Smith, especially next year's class.
March 17, 200719 yr Tubby's spot next year on the bench was secured before this game even began. I agree:thumb:
March 17, 200719 yr I guess this thread is as good as any to post this... This is a scenario that I want to hear everyone's opinions on and let me first say that a lot of "Ifs" would have to happen.... Say UK signs both Lucas and Patterson, and Morris goes pro. UK has a season about like this year as they have no real post threat at the C position. During the year Tubby gets LOI's signed by Green, Frease, Miller, and one of the PF's they are after in 08. Does the UK fan base go into meltdown mode and call for Tubby's head or would they realize the recruiting is turning around and everything is getting back to UK basketball?
March 17, 200719 yr How? Two years from now when they evaluate his contract, you think they will point to this win as a reason to keep him on? No but if he lost tonight it would have only made the off season changes harder for Tubby... he gets a lil bit more lead way now.

I don't see how winning this game makes it any easier for Tubby to make the needed changes on the staff. How will it be easier and who does he get more lee way from?
March 17, 200719 yr Now his assistants may be another story. Hopefuly a couple of his assistants will be another story. Imo one problem that Tubby has is that he is "too" loyal to his people. This (loyalty) is a very good quality but jmo changes have to be made in the staff.
