Corbin 66 Bell Co 64 (OT)

IMO the officals made the right call putting time back on the clock, I felt really bad for the younger Whitker after he missed the 4 free throws, Corbin missed a ton of free throws as well, Josh Whitker will become a special player in the future. Madison Johnson in a lot of ways, (not just the game winner) took over this game for Corbin, he was money on his pressure free throws and is already a special player with a huge upside. The older Whitker seemed to take some bad shots that I guess he normally hits, and #23 (for Bell) should have got more looks at the basket IMO he is very good. One heck of a game!!!!

Goins(#23) is a very good player for Bell. It seems like Zachary never got involved in the offense the entire game, which hurt Bell Co. in my opinion.

Zachery has to be involved for Bell to win ball games. He's a smart player and he will be a very nice player the next couple years for Bell. He and Josh will have to take on a big load.

I thought Zachery and Goins were very good players. Goins is really explosive and should have gotten the ball more. I thought the older Whitaker took some bad shots, but hey, he could beat me in a game of 24 ... 24-0.

I just got finished watching the DVD of the game again and noticed that the foul at the end of overtime was actually called with 5.2 seconds remaining and Johnson got his shot off with eight tenths of a second remaining.

IMO using only his left hand;) maybe 24 to 2.

Yeah, I might be able to score 2. I have been playing ball with Donald 'Old Man' Marcum.

Hats off to a very good and very classy Bell Co. team. I feel very bad for both of the Whitaker boys. Josh would make those FT's most of the time and Ryan is a heck of a player.Tough way to end your HS career.

There should have been 4.2 seconds put on the clock and they did just that. I was watching the clock when Zachery got fouled and it should have stopped at 4.2 seconds.

So you're saying that not only did you watch the play/foul happen, you also watched the clock close enough to tell how many tenths should have been left. I'll tell you what Les...You are something special.

I'm not clear on the rule on this, but just because someone screams timeout with 5 seconds left, for instance, isn't there supposed to be time allowed for the official to then grant the timeout and the clock keeper to then stop the clock.

If someone called timeout with 5:22 left, the official granted it at 5:20 and the clock keeper stopped the clock at 5:19, would this not be the usual reaction time?

Sniff, sniff:fire:

You bring up a great point, I would like to know the rule on this as well, Pig doesn't think Les could keep an eye on the play and the clock to. IMO the officals can't either maybe just a glance at the clock and a quick guess. Just guess work without tape replay. Why would clock time be different with 5 seconds as compared to 5:22 unless clock runs out?

I watched the game on DVD today and actually ther was 5.2 seconds remaining when the foul was called.

So, I guess that the refs did as good as anyone could have hoped. It would take about a second to react and look at the clock.

You are very clear on the usual reaction time HDE. The clock does not stop when the timeout was asked for by the player or coach, nor does it stop when the foul was committed.. The clock stops when the ref signals for it to stop. The clock man is to never anticipate a call or stop the clock unless the ref signals. If a referee notices that the clock man's reaction was obviously early or late he can correct the error. I don't think it's ever supposed to be a guess.
