Corbin 66 Bell Co 64 (OT)

Featured Replies

The radio announcer said that if they had just been 4.1 seconds on the clock the shot would not have counted. Just seems alittle odd that Corbin on their home floor got enough time put back on the clock to get their winning shot off...

I wasnt their so I do not know, I just know it seems VERY odd... If this happend at Clay Co, everyone would be ready to hang Clay Co and the refs.

Im hoping Cumberland upsets South, anyone know the score?

Take it from me man, I was there and on the clock there was 4.2 seconds remaining when Zachery got fouled ... it might seem odd to you, but I found it rather odd when Corbin was beating Clay in 98 during the first round of the region at Clay and the buzzer sounds and Da Hounds win and next thing you know .... well, you know the rest of the story.

Check the South/Cumberland thread.

And, Johnson released his shot with two tenths of a second left ... that's how close it was.

Good Win for the Redhounds! They are a good team and they proved that tonight.

Cashen came up huge for Corbin tonight. Corbin was down five in the 4th quarter and he made three consecutive steals that led to points and it really turned the tide of the game Corbin's way.

I remember that game very well. I was shocked how bad they got ripped off. Then Bell got ripped off just as bad the following game. Bell was up 14 at halftime and the refs took charge! That is the only game during the 4 years I was in highschool that I can honestly say the refs took it from Bell.

The Redhounds sure gutted this one out and both teams left it all on the court though. I thought the refs made the right call about puttin time back on the clock, it looked like the foul call came with about 5 seconds left to me. It was so loud that the scorekeeper could not hear the whistle and let it run down to 2.9 and the Corbin coach did a good job asking for it.

It appeared to me that the refs made the decision to add time without much prompting from the coaches - the guy held both arms outstretched, shook his head, and told them not to address him as he walked up to the scorekeeper/clock and told them to put the time back on before he even spoke to either coach. It wasn't quite as controversial as the radio must have made it sound - neither the bench nor the fans from Bell showed much objection.

Congratulations to the Redhounds. Don't believe all the unbelievers. You are good enough to hand South a loss! Good luck and a safe game Tuesday night!

I listened to the last part of the game on the radio on the way home from work. I thought that I was going to have to pull over till it was over. Sounds like it was a great game for both teams.. Good luck to Corbin tomorrow against South. I hope that they all rest well tonight. I can't imagine Madison Johnson calming down any time soon. That's once in a lifetime shoot. I hope someone got it on film for him.

It is on film. I am sure it will not be the last big shot he makes for the Hounds. The kid is a warrior.

Sounds like he is a great player. It will be fun to watch him play over the next couple of years. Hope tonight goes as well for the Hounds.

I agree! WEEEEEEEE DOGGIES!!!! GO HOUNDS!!:dancingpa

The second pass, after crossing half court to the corner, was quick enough to not allow the defense to step out, until he was set and shot.

Great finish, to a great game and with two outstanding teams.

As good as I felt for the Corbin kids after the game, I had a hard time watching the Bell Co. kids lying on the floor stunned that their season was over. My hat goes off to the Bell Co. players for the way they handled themselves after such a bitter loss and to the Corbin players and coaches who were trying to console them as well.
