What is it with NC or Duke always.....

starting the first week of the tournament on a North Carolina floor. This is very unfair!!!!:madman: :fight:

UNC deserves it as they are a #1...

They have arenas that host games... The teams win games.. The teams stay close to home. Amazing, huh?

It really has to do with the number of venues available in NC....and the fact that a great crowd will always show up....that part of the country is really one of the hearts of basketball around this country...

They can play in Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem...not too shabby....

That's why UK fans need to fully support the new arena in the 'Ville. UK and UL could go back and forth hosting the tourney with each "getting home" games every other year.

Florida is the overall #1 and they get sent to the midwest. Where's the logic?

These venues are selected years in advance. It has to be that way, because so many of them house more than just NCAA events. New Orleans is the closest city to Florida hosting first round games. It's much closer than Winston-Salem or Lexington.

Duke more than North Carolina. I looked it up in another thread. And RP is on to something with the four arenas that can host. However, there isn't another school that has played more first round home games in-state over the last 30 years than Duke.

When UK has been the overall #1 seed they have been sent WAY out west, but I do agree that every year it looks like Duke/UNC get to play in their own back yards. NCAA afraid they (fans) won't travel with the NC teams?

The same reason that UK always makes the tournament even if they do not deserve to. MONEY

They were making a big deal about UL playing at Rupp, seems like Duke is usually in GBoro or one of the other NC sites when they are a top seed, no big deal.

In 2004, UK was the #1 overall seed, and they were sent way out west...all the way to Columbus, Ohio.

They were also the number 1 seed in 2003 and they made the huge cross country trip to Nashville.

But in 2003, they were not protected as some say the top seeds should be.

They played in Minneapolis versus, neighboring Wisconsin and Marquette. Two games in hostile environments.

Look at A&M this year...a three and playing Louisville in Kentucky.
