My "pipeline" is the Bible. The inspired Word of God. I take the scriptures for what they say . . . and it says abortion is murder, and homosexuality is an abomination. I will not vote for a person who thinks murdering the unborn or having sexual relationships with the same sex is okay. It simply is not! Those that feel that these things are okay are not fit for office. The Republican party better start thinking about this when they submit their nomination. They cannot win without the support of us so-called "right-wing religious fanatics."

I would like to hear from some sensible and open-minded republicans on Rudy's stance on abortion, and his 2 or 3 divorces? Wouldn't this hurt him big time with those on the far right and with evangelicals? I haven't checked into it, but is he all out in favor for abortion? Or does he view it as a choice but wishes everyone would choice life? (Being a democrat I see the latter point but don't agree with it) Wil it hurt a little that Rudy's own son said he will not help his father run? What's behind that?

My wife disputes that I am sensible and open-minded. She claims that it makes sense to spend $900 on a piece of furniture when there is only $800 in the checking account, as long as the piece of furniture is on "sale" at 1/2 price. As of right now, I will be voting for Mr. Giuliani. I, too, would be honeycombed as an "evangelical" Christian who is strongly opposed to legislated rights for homosexuals and state-sponsored abortions. However, my reasoning is eerily similar to scooterbob's in that I recognize the inherent imperfection of humans and their politics and that sacrifice on some issues prevents greater calamity on others.

 

I understand IM4THEHOUNDS's position on this; I just adamantly reject it. I would pose this query: If you KNOW that by abstaining from the vote, you are actively contributing to the election of a Hillary Clinton, whom I consider to be evil, then are you not sinning against God? I have always been intrigued by Romans 13, particularly the first passage, which opines that ". . . those authorities which exist have been instituted by God." What this has always meant to me is *gulp* that William Jefferson "Wild Bill" Clinton was in office at the direction of God.

 

Rudy has stated that his PERSONAL views on abortion and homosexuality are as they are. However, he has also stated that because the issues are so divisive, he would not actively LEGISLATE for such things. This is the selling point for me, and his strength of leadership and fiscal conservatism in the end win the day for me.

Now, as far as the tele-evangelists go . . . they are not going by scripture . . . they are charlatans trying to prey on poor ignorant people. I am not a charlatan. You better worry---- but not about folks like me ---you better worry about yourself and others who apparently see nothing wrong with the murdering of innocent babies and homosexuality. However, I am not your judge, God is. I will pray for you.

Well, now, let me blow a big hole in your ability to "interpret" and to gather "wisdom and knowledge" from your "interpretations. Reread the second part of your second paragraph quoted above. Now, let me tell you that, in fact, I have been honored (even had my picture on the front page of the newspaper with Senator Bunning) for my work on behalf of Right to Life.

 

You are wrong in that interpretation and I would suggest that you should do a little less judging and a little more homework before you post any more of your "interpretations" of the Scriptures or of anything else.

I am not sure where you are going with this--these were commandments from the old testament but the principles are throughout the entire Word from Genesis to Revelation. Murder is murder and homosexuality is an abomination. Period.

I can't say I see them quite as often in the New Testament. I suppose you also refuse to vote for candidates who have been divorced, don't uphold the Sabbath, or break any other of the archaic laws found in the Old Testament with as much fervor as you do against those who support gay marriage.

From what I've read about 9/11, Rudy is not the hero that he's been made out to be. I've heard complaints from emergency workers that he went against emergency protocol, got in the way and some have blamed him for getting even more emergency workers killed than should have.
