Rudy, divorce & abortion?

Featured Replies

Rudy has a tough sell. Not only does he support the right to abortion, he has called for public financing of it.

That is disappointing, I did not know that. If you could find a link, I would appreciate it.

BTW, I like Huckabee very much LBBC. I just don't think he can win.

Unless he has changed his mind since 1989....

Maybe he has. However, as you well know, all quotes are fair game in campaigning. I'd expect this one will be used along the way .

You are the man, chhs81. Although you have now crushed my spirit about Rudi.

Rudy is also against any ban on partial birth abortion. That alone will keep me from ever voting for him.

I'm being bombarded.

RETREAT, retreat . . .

So you are saying I am wrong for considering my values developed by my faith when making the choice on whom I think should lead this country.

By the way, the last time I had heard 3,000 future American and women lose their lives EVERY SINGLE DAY because of abortion. The number of Americans who have lost their lives in Iraq PALE in comparison to the number of future Americans who have lost their lives in a SINGLE WEEK to abortion.

You want to talk travesty on losing lives, you had better pick a better argument than comparing the number of lives lost in Iraq to number of lives lost to the inconvenience of being pregnant.

:thumb: I couldn't agree more!

I am against abortion, but the main problem I have with one-issue voters is that they allow it to blind them to every other position a candidate has on some very important issues. Sometimes I think Adolph Hitler could probably get elected if he said he was against abortion.

No, Adolf was in to experimental cloning. That would never fly with us, either.

We're not talking abortion. Rudy is against any partial birth abortion ban. That's just sick.

Note: I'm not anti-Rudi or pro-Rudi.

I am definitely anti-Rudy. Anything to do with Notre Dame football, I don't like.:D

:D !!!

I have a feeling Partial Birth Abortion is going down very soon anyway - the Supreme Court just heard a couple cases on the issue.

If elected, what kind of jurist would Rudy send to the Supreme Court? Stevens has to be on his last legs. Would Rudy appoint another conservative Justice (essentially making the makeup of the court 5-3 conservative, + Kennedy) or would he keep the status quo (and turn his back on his party) and appoint a more liberal justice?

My wife disputes that I am sensible and open-minded. She claims that it makes sense to spend $900 on a piece of furniture when there is only $800 in the checking account, as long as the piece of furniture is on "sale" at 1/2 price. She claims I am close-minded by refusing to put the tab on a credit card . . . but I digress.

As of right now, I will be voting for Mr. Giuliani. I, too, would be honeycombed as an "evangelical" Christian who is strongly opposed to legislated rights for homosexuals and state-sponsored abortions. However, my reasoning is eerily similar to scooterbob's in that I recognize the inherent imperfection of humans and their politics and that sacrifice on some issues prevents greater calamity on others.

I understand IM4THEHOUNDS's position on this; I just adamantly reject it. I would pose this query: If you KNOW that by abstaining from the vote, you are actively contributing to the election of a Hillary Clinton, whom I consider to be evil, then are you not sinning against God? I have always been intrigued by Romans 13, particularly the first passage, which opines that ". . . those authorities which exist have been instituted by God." What this has always meant to me is *gulp* that William Jefferson "Wild Bill" Clinton was in office at the direction of God.

Rudy has stated that his PERSONAL views on abortion and homosexuality are as they are. However, he has also stated that because the issues are so divisive, he would not actively LEGISLATE for such things. This is the selling point for me, and his strength of leadership and fiscal conservatism in the end win the day for me.

"Evil" is a mighty strong word. What makes her such an evil being, counselor?

I honestly believe she wishes harm upon certain people. I also believe she honestly wishes for the government to be able to control people's actions, and that she thinks she knows better than everybody else what is good for them. I cannot substantiate this; I just feel it.
