March 9, 200719 yr Huge second half for Baby Davis who depite looking like he has eaten Mardi Gras during his layoff, went for 25 and 16 to knock off the Vols. Lofton had 21 for the night to lead the Vols, including a game tying tip in that knotted the score. LSU's Garrett Temple hit a running bank shot but it was waved off because of a charge. Ramar Smith pulled a nice flop, even with that it should have been a block call. John Brady about blew a gasket and came close to getting T'd up, breathed a sigh of relief as UT's final possession broke down and ended with a desperation 35 foot heave. Davis went to work in OT. Are the Tigers primed for a run? I may be in the minority, but I still think the Vols are an "one trick pony". Lofton is their bread and butter, but they need to at least throw it inside and get some sort of balance in their offense. They struggled mightily tonight. Their pressure can cause you problems, but in the half court they are not real soild defensively.
March 9, 200719 yr I would have hated to see LSU lose this one in OT after that terrible charge call. I picked this one, LSU is dangerous.
March 9, 200719 yr Author Interesting factoid. Tennessee is the only team in the SEC, since the tournament was restarted, not to make it to the semi-final Saturday of the tournament.
March 9, 200719 yr Author Not very good news for AK. At least it went to OT... LSU is going to be one tired bunch. They arent very deep to begin with, and tonight was a war. AK has some beef on the front line that can battle with Davis.
March 9, 200719 yr Interesting factoid. Tennessee is the only team in the SEC, since the tournament was restarted, not to make it to the semi-final Saturday of the tournament. Wasn't the tournament restarted around 1979 or so? That's a looooooooooooooong drought.

March 9, 200719 yr Did you see the AK interview? He isn't the most sharply dressed man. On game day he's hard to beat. Maybe Kimber stayed home with the kids...
March 9, 200719 yr Would have been a crime if UT ended up winning after that terrible charge call. I think GT and UKPat know what I thought about that at the time that it happened...

March 9, 200719 yr Wasn't the tournament restarted around 1979 or so? That's a looooooooooooooong drought. That's only partially correct. It isn't since the tourney was restarted. They are the only team not to at least make the semi-finals since divisional play began in 1992--still a very long drought.
March 9, 200719 yr Why did it seem that they were running Lofton as a decoy the last 3-4 possessions of the game? Ramar Smith had it the entire trip and Lofton was tucked away in the left corner,
March 9, 200719 yr I may be in the minority, but I still think the Vols are an "one trick pony". Lofton pretty much IS Tennessee. What did the Vols do when he was out earlier in the year? Without Lofton, TN is South Carolina, pretty much. They are athletic and have some decent shooters, but Lofton is the deal maker.

Just some really young kids in that lineup.
