March 9, 200719 yr Like the others, I'm just glad LSU won because UT sure didn't deserve to after that call that went their way. Ugh, what a terrible excuse for refereeing that one was. LSU probably won't pull it off, but they're a sleeper now IMO. Their largest loss to a team in front of them before the championship was by 3 at Georgia. They lost by 1 at Ole Miss and won by 7 at home against the Rebels. Oh, and they beat Florida by 10 at home. It probably won't happen because they'll eventually wear down, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that these guys could run the table.

March 9, 200719 yr Huge second half for Baby Davis who depite looking like he has eaten Mardi Gras during his layoff, went for 25 and 16 to knock off the Vols. Lofton had 21 for the night to lead the Vols, including a game tying tip in that knotted the score. LSU's Garrett Temple hit a running bank shot but it was waved off because of a charge. Ramar Smith pulled a nice flop, even with that it should have been a block call. John Brady about blew a gasket and came close to getting T'd up, breathed a sigh of relief as UT's final possession broke down and ended with a desperation 35 foot heave. Davis went to work in OT. Are the Tigers primed for a run? I may be in the minority, but I still think the Vols are an "one trick pony". Lofton is their bread and butter, but they need to at least throw it inside and get some sort of balance in their offense. They struggled mightily tonight. Their pressure can cause you problems, but in the half court they are not real soild defensively. Tennessee is the type of team, IMO, that has to get you into their tempo and style...if they can, then they have a great chance to beat you. If they can't, then I think they are a very beatable team. They have a few things going for them though...with the style they play, they will almost always get the game into a helter skelter mode at one or two times and no matter how bad they look or are down, they will almost always make a run and get back in the game. Which leads to the next thing they have going for them...I think Lofton is a clutch player, so when the games are close, they have a guy who can make plays to win those types of game, and if they happen to get a lead, again they have Lofton who is virtually automatic at the free throw line...it's hard to come back on them if you have to foul. It wouldn't surprise me to see them win a few games, or go out early in the NCAA Tourny.
