Not sure how NKU will be able to host both the 9th and 10th region regional tourneys. Article in the Enquirer said they were interested in hosting the 9th region Girls and Boys tourneys. The 10th have every right to be there also with 3 teams in the same county as NKU but it would have to be a pretty tight schedule even if the Boys and Girls go back to the "no NCAA-tourney at Rupp" spacing. Maybe they could alternate years.

 

This is definately possible. The 6th and 7th regions host their boys and girls tournaments at Louisville Gardens. I wouldn't mind seeing this happen. Could be very exciting for the locals around NKU. Basketball, basketball, basketball all day for about a week wouldn't be too bad.

As I review the brackets and start times for this weeks games at the Fieldhouse, one would have to expect a less than impressive crowd for the openers on each day beginning at 5pm.

 

Bishop Brossart vs. Deming.

With a 5 pm start, I am not sure how many people with jobs even in Maysville who are just a basketball guru and have no ties to this game or even if Mason County was playing the first game and love basketball and the tournament can get to this game at the start. The split session for the first round and maybe even the second round is a bad idea, or maybe just the 5 pm start time. I can't imagine folks from N.Ky who are Brossart fans that have jobs can get to Maysville for this game at 5 unless of course vacation time is taken or what have you.

 

Same thing will be evident on Thursday with Harrison and Scott High playing at 5pm. A decent drive for both teams I believe will affect the attendance for the 5 pm start time.

I know it was a blind draw and none of these schools who have a little bit of a drive to make have a choice for when they play, but in my opinion attendance will be low and again I hope I am wrong. I am not too sure even if Deming, Mason, Augusta...the closer schools to Maysville and fan base who have jobs everyday until most likely 4:30 or 5pm could manage the 5pm starting time. Just my thoughts and best of luck to all schools participating.

I thought the split sessions were a little "greedy" for these games, especially for the kids?? I understand they want to allow the 2nd game fans to get good seats for their game, but IMO you could clear the gym and give the 1st game attendees a pass to get back in at a certain time, after the others have had a chance to get in their seats. Or at least let students attend both games if they chose?? Doubtful even the MC-MC game had a big crowd tonight, and would it really hurt to let people back in for the 2nd game in these first round games??

Actually there was a very nice crowd there in the 2nd game tonight it was actually a big crowd.

Obviously Mason brings a good home crowd every game, but so big you couldn't let a few "holdovers" from the first games stay? Watch the empty seats tomorrow, even though Clark travels well and Augusta is close to home?
