March 2, 200719 yr IMO this is the worst thing UK has in it's program. Anyone that thinks Donovan is going to come to KY and get this kind of ridicule is crazy. To put it blunt Donovan has already failed at UK simply because the expectations that are set for him are out of sight. I agree. I can't think of anyone who would want to take Tubby's place. If Tubby can't please them, no one can.

March 2, 200719 yr I agree. I can't think of anyone who would want to take Tubby's place. If Tubby can't please them, no one can. Some people won't be happy unless Rick comes back. And there are a few on this site. Anyone that continues to compare Rick's stats to Tubby's falls in that catagory.

March 2, 200719 yr I would say a new coach gets a couple years depending on how he does before he starts the feel the heat. Tubby won the national champship and essentially earned himself a 10 year pass. I don't know where that number came from, but it sounds nice. lol Not that he hasn't been criticized in the last 10 years since he won, but with a win that early in his tenure, you figure there is another one around the corner. 10 years later fans have turned enough corners and have ended up in a bad part of town about ready to be mugged. Strange analogy, but it somewhat works. : )

True story... You know what I think is so sad in all this...some fans let the outcome of an athletic event affect their entire being. I am all for supporting your team but in the big picture of life as fan what difference does it make??

"When they won it all in '98, it was like the title was won by Pitino by proxy. It sort of slowly unraveled from there." And this from Billy Donovan. "Tubby is someone I've got a great deal of respect and admiration for, both as a coach and a person," said Donovan, who's mentioned on message boards as a possible successor for Smith. "When I was young and first starting in coaching, he had a big influence on me. [i appreciate] the amount of time he spent with me and the time he gave me, teaching me, helping me learn. Unraveled is the key statement here. UK fans are second to none in the world, and won't stand for not being at the top. Only a very small percentage will tolerate losing, like some on here. The program will have to be fixed. Tubby will be given a chance to right the ship, but he is on a very short leash. Amazing that some rip the fans for being upset with losing... Who in the world can Tubby "satisfy" by never getting to the final four with his players, recruiting horribly, not being ranked, battling for 5th in the SEC East, and on and on...Whoever is satisfied with what Tubby has done, I don't want having anything to do with the program...:creepy:
