Boyd County 54 Rose Hill Christian 43

Featured Replies

A very much deserved win for Boyd County. A check of the statistics will show why Rose Hill lost. I can only remember one point scored by anyone other than Euton and Jackson.

Rose Hill had a goodly number of chances in the first half to pull out to a large margin but continually failed to do so. By the middle of the third quarter, even with Rose Hill still ahead, chances were squandered and you could sense the outcome.

As a "wise" poster has said since October, Rose Hill is a year away. However, between now and then, a couple more boys will have to step up. Potential is great. Unfulfilled potential is not.

The referees let the teams bang and play. I would hope that they will do the same on Thursday.

Hmmmm.....Maybe a bad experience in the past might have led up to this comment.....Really classy....

BTW, yeah lets blame a Freshman for screwing up a game...Gutless comment.

So if he is a senior is it ok?

Potential is great. Unfulfilled potential is not.

I agree Scooter, as usual, your comments are direct and truthful. I think Rose Hill is going to have to expand it's talent beyond the "big 2" if they want to enjoy the kind of success the girls had last year.

It's critical for Boyd to have Wilso step up as a 6th man. Someone has to give Selby a break every now and then. Id say the big boy gets tired easily.

Incredibly enough Selby never came out of the game til 7 secs left in the game. For that matter none of them did except for Zach and he was relieved by Chase Stevens. Zach was one of the starters tonight. Chase was in a car accident the night before the Fleming County game and has only practiced with the team once since then. None of the players on BC's team even looked tired during or after the game, they are a very well conditioned team. Selby amazes me how he gets up and down the court for a big fella.

So, what do we have in the region tourney?

Russell, Elliott, Boyd, Lewis, Rowan, East Carter, who else?

Looks like its:

Russell

Elliott

Boyd

Lewis

Rowan

East Carter

Bath

The other will be the winner of Ashland/Fairview.

How does a team with the two, not one but two, best players in the region not get out of district.

They would be all set if they were playing doubles tennis. Unfortunately, basketball requires 5 players on the court at all times and contributions from several subs.

Agreed, Major players for both teams were right on their averages, role players for both teams decided the outcome of this one. Wilson was big for Boyd, Rose Hill needed a 3rd scorer. Thought Rose Hills youth was exposed when they got behind by trying to catch up to quick.

How is that comment gutless when he is being hailed by his coach as the best player in the region. Sometimes the truth hurts, and the truth of the matter is that he was cold in the 2nd half, took some bad shots, and shot them out of the game.

The same thing happened to Boyd last season with Owens and he got blasted on here for it. So IMO I don't see one bit of difference. If you play varsity, then you are varsity no matter what grade. So take your lumps and learn from them because I'm sure there will be more positives than negatives in Eutons future.

No one wanted to shoot the ball except for those 2. The rest looked scared and intimidated.

43 points is probably the lowest total points scored by Rose Hill all season. Jackson played a solid game on offense and defense. Euton's three pointers kept Rose Hill close in the first half, but he couldn't maintain it the second half.

Other than Euton and Jackson, no one else showed up to play for R.H.

Thats the reason I predicted Boyd to win this one. Fraley is going to need to develop a couple more players to compliment Euton and Jackson for next year. Rose Hill's youth hurt them tonight. I couldnt imagine to pressure these young men are under, its easy to be intimidated by older guys, I think we've all experienced that in some way or another through the years.

The Royals have nothing to be ashamed of, these guys are going to be fun to watch for the next few years.

Euton and Jackson scored 20 each, Fuller had 2 and Malloy 1. Euton had 12 boards and Jackson 9 of RH's 33.

The Lions and Coach Pratt deserve full credit for pulling out a big win. No one gave it to them, they earned it.

Rose Hill's kids deserve credit for putting together a terrific year with some big wins over some very good opponents. They finish 19 and 6 overall, and as a team that started an 8th grader, two freshmen, a sophomore and a junior... they have something to look forward to.

Congratulations all around... :thumb:

:thumb: You are very correct in your assessment, the only thing that I would add is that Jackson needs to develop an outside shot to be truely dangerous. BC sagged their defense on him all night, and he still got plenty of looks at the rim. If he would develop his perimeter game, then teams would have to respect him, then by using his speed, the lane to the rim will be wide open.
