Al Gore, Energy Hog

Featured Replies

If he's using energy generated from clean, renewable resources (unlike you and me), what's the issue?

Political.

"the family tries to offset that carbon footprint by purchasing their power through the local Green Power Switch program — electricity generated through renewable resources such as solar, wind, and methane gas, which create less waste and pollution. "In addition, they are in the midst of installing solar panels on their home, which will enable them to use less power," Kreider added. "They also use compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy efficiency measures and then they purchase offsets for their carbon emissions to bring their carbon footprint down to zero.""

Comon guys.

This is like campaign finance reform. A candidate can't effect change without breaking the rules because if he practiced what he preached, he would have the money/resources to get his message to very few.

Attacking Gore on this issue makes people look threatened.

At least the Gore's are taking steps toward helping do their part.

What can most of us say we're doing?

I'm doing at least 10 times more than the Gores, not including private jets.

I didn't know natural gas was a renewable resource.

I didn't know natural gas was a renewable resource.
It is for me. :D

From what I've read, he's using a lot of renewable resources to offset the other side.

So, is our issue with him that a)he's rich enough to have a big house that requires a lot of energy b)we don't believe in global warming c)his political affiliation d)if you're going to cry about global warming then you had better be living in a 100% solar powerd home e)all of the above?

What exactly are you doing? I consider myself pretty eco-conservative, and I ain't even close to doing as much as the Gores!

It is for me. :D

You're just waiting for your version of natural gas be somehow harnessed to power automobiles, then you'll be off on a trip to every state, with your AAA map in hand!

That would be d except he doesn't need to live in a 100% solar powered home, just don't use 10 times more energy than average, fly commercial and use smaller vehicals.

I'm doing at least 10 times more than the Gores, not including private jets.

For some reason I kind of doubt that... but it's good that you're trying.:thumb:

I'm using 90% less resources than they are, at least. I fly commercial.

I can allow a little hypocrisy from someone who has been working for years at changing the world and helping to make it a better place for our future generations.

This thread is about Al Gore. Please stay on topic...:D

You're using 90% less resources because......??????

Are you saying you use less resources because you live in a smaller space?

Does the size of the space you occupy, and the choices you make in energy equate?

If you're not using renewable sources whenever possible, does it matter if you live in a Studio apartment or a 20 room house?

Isn't it about doing what you can do in your environment?
