AAU Tourney time

I agree I think KY basketball can and is competing with the better teams nationally. I would like to see some teams put together a "state" team as suggested by Black 10, Maybe Team Kentucky in all age groups and play more of the top teams in the nation. If you had 10 or 12 kids with the same ability we could play with anyone.

I like the future of Kentucky kids coming up in a few years.

Just back from Spring break and finally able to log onto the "other woman" as my wife calls BGP. HoopDR, looks like the Gtown boys had a great tournament up in CBus. Wish you could have knocked off the Knights. Still great representation from the state of KY. So are you all playing up in the 13U D2 tourney?

Yes we are playing up in the 13U D2 tournament.

We did this last year playing up in the 12U and actually did better in that tournament than the 11U. We are playing to better ourselves against some older kids.

We were very, very close in knocking off the Champions Cincy Knights.

We went for the win instead of the tie.

Well, the 13U tournament at the KBA is getting close. Any comment on teams or favorites?

I'll throw out a few 13u teams.

I've seen most of the NKY teams. The best NKY team right now is the Wolfpack. Not sure if they will play div 1 or 2 (or if they will have 2 divisions at state). Good combination of size and guard play, but I wouldn't consider them a real good outside shooting team. The rest of the teams from NKY that might go down. Huskies, Raptors, Irish, Hornets will all be solid, but could beat each other on any given day. Not sure if the TarHeels are going, but usually are solid and have younger guys playing up. Nky Bearcats are not going.

From the rest of the state? The Ville, The Truth, Blaze, Suns and NE Royals should all be tough.

Teams listed as of now in 13u state.

Division 1

Lexington Catholic

The Ville

Louisville Suns

South Laurel Red

Division 2

Star Sports

N. Ky Wolfpack

Hardin Co Outlaws

Northern Ky Raptors

Mason County

KY Players

Breathitt Bombers

N KY Hornets

Georgetown Thunder

East Jessamine

South Laurel Black

Warren Co Shooting Stars

Lexington Blaze

Northern Ky Irish

The D1 favorites have to be The Ville. They were last years state champs defeating the Lex Blaze. This year the two teams (Ville and Blaze) have combined. I am assuming the remaining players that did not combine with The Ville are the Blaze team that is playing D2.

The NE Ky Royals are not on this list but they will be playing in the D1 state. The majority of their player are from Rose Hill which won the KBA middle school state. They will give The Ville a run for the title.

The Lou. Suns are the defending D2 state champs and they have moved up to D1. They have a nice team.

Lex. Catholic and S. Laurel have strong high school programs and are stepping up to the challenge of D1. I guess that is one reason their programs are so successful. Their players are use to strong competition.

It should be fun to watch.

Couple more teams added to 13u

in Div1

Northeast Royals

in Div2

The Truth-Maroon

The Truth-White

The Ville 12U

Bullitt Cougars

I think the big boy from Pendelton County also plays with Northeast Royals

My pics are Div1...The Ville

Div2...Nky Wolfpack or The Truth

Uncle Joe, watched Lex. Cath and South Laurel this weekend at Hoops. Lex. Cath beat South Laurel by 3 points, 47 to 50 in pool play. South lost to Suns by 36 in the finals.

South had one of their better players sprang his ankle in tournament play. They were playing their 4th game of the day by the final game.

They had the 6th grade PG "Sanders" playing with them.

Lex. Cath as always very well coached. This team is one to watch out for they can play with any D 1 team.

South Laurel, will struggle against the better athletic teams. Their Pg is very strong and handles the ball great. The kid that got hurt is a must for them to be even remotely competitive.

Does, any one know any thing about the NY Royals. Thanks !

The Royals are a very strong team. They have a talented PG named Bush (coaches son). They have size too. Wetsel and Terry are solid players. They are probably the second best team in the state (next to the Ville).

Thanks, is this the Rose Hill, team.

Does anyone know which teams have entered the 16u and 17u state tournaments as of now?

Thanks, is this the Rose Hill, team.
Yes. Plus they have added players to their team.

South Laurel, plays them Friday night.
