Who's the better Student Section Cov Cath or Ashland?

Featured Replies

I hope CovCath is better, i mean they have over twice as many guys as Ashland does thats an advantage that cant be overcome. I'd say Ashland is one of if not the best public student sections in the state.

I would guess as a private institution, they have a better student section; since they can draw superior cheerers from a larger area?? I was wondering how long it would take someone to bring the public/private fiasco into a debate on student sections--WOW!! :D

I heard CovCath was recruiting a 5 star male cheerleader out of Texas. ESPN has him ranked 3rd best chant leader in the nation. The guy has a really loud voice. Thats a clear advantage to CovCath. Ashland can only chose from local home grown talent. Please note that this post is complete sarcasm.

You opened Pandora's Box.

Just revise your post to say that Ashland has the best cheering section of any public high school located in Ashland between Berry Street and Floyd Street on Blazer Blvd. That will keep you out of trouble and will also fill the need to be the best at something.

You have a vocal cheering section. Enjoy it for what is is and don't insist that it is the best. You cannot prove your statement but you can definitely prove my suggested wording.

I've heard of this guy, and he does his own choreography. Specializes in "toga nights"!! :D

I heard the Ashland's AD was purposing a rule change to the KHSAA that would all but block this kid's ability to cheer for CC.

I got to see him cheer on a traveling allstar team last summer. The kid is the real deal. He's the Jordan of cheering. 17 years old and already has a voice as loud as Mark Cuban. Lucky you guys are a private school and can recruit or Ashland would be better. I really cant believe that someone had the never to bring up the private / public debate on the topic of cheering sections. Thats just funny, I kind of thought it was a joke at first but I dont think it was at all, thats the sad part.

Wont happen. CovCath is a private scholl and can do that. Nothing Ashland can do about it. It's obvious thats why CovCath is better than Ashland. Not because they originate their own cheers, have been doing it for years or because they got an award at the sweet 16. Simply because they are a private school. We all know how great Ashland is at everything if they could recruit like CovCath, things would be different.

Have you heard the kid clap? He has made some of the best pure shooters in the country miss free throws all by his lonesome.

Yeah. But he's on steroids. :bunny:

His dad was one of the greatest of all times. Big hands and clapping are in his genes. This kid is fearless and really has a great understanding of what cheering is all about. A close friend tells me that he stays after school standing at half court screaming for hours on end to work on his game. I also heard he claps 100,000 times a day to keeps his hands in shape. UCLA is looking at him but his act scores may be an issue.

I can see by some of the posts why CCH section is one of the best. Just look at the way this thread has taken one riculous comment and run with it.

Believe me, due to limited regulations on recruiting in the KHSAA, CovCath can do PLENTY of things that UCLA couldn't dream of.

Any truth to the rumor that his grandmother has the disorder which makes her unable to control the volume of her voice, and he has developed some type of loud-only spin-off? I read it on one of the Texas Student Section boards, but I am not sure if it is true.

In the 1979/1980 season, CCH started the newspaper gag in response to star Dickie Beal of Holmes (and later UK) getting so much publicity in the papers. When the Holmes Bulldogs starting lineup was announced at the beginning of the game, the CovCath cheering section would raise newspapers in front of their faces as if they could care less about Beal and that they were preoccupied with reading the news, therefore paying the Bulldogs no attention, and then ripped newspapers would go flying when the Colonels starting lineup was announced. I don't know of this antic ever being used before that. The Colonel section, although not being called the 'CRAZIES' years ago, has always been a wild comical sarcastic tradition even long before 1979/1980. I would venture to say that the rowdiness began when they won the 9th Region about 5 years in a row in the late 60's and early 70's. :dancingpa:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa:dancingpa

Used at WKU in 1977 vs EKU. Probably used somewhere else before that as the Hilltoppers are not known to be that original.

Unfortunately this was done in the mid 70's by the UK student section.
