February 19, 200719 yr Author Maybe the blame rest on those responsible for player development. It's possible that Lofton and Brewer wouldn't be near the players they are now if Tubby were their coach. Who knows. I still cannot believe we obligated a scholarship to a high school sophmore that could play at UK's level. As for Bradley I know will a great degree of certainty that he was offered based on a recommendation from a former UK player who is a talent broker of sorts. It is my understanding that Smith offered him sight unseen.

Who knows. Maybe so, but UK has developed their share of players under Tubby (eg. Fitch, Daniels, etc.). Trying to identify those that will one day contribute and those that will never be able to is the key.

It just make you wonder what happened to begin this not so subtle slide.

The main problem is that the '04 class was supposed to take the program to the next level... they have done so but it's been a level below where we were when they got here. They were supposed to be a class similar to McCants, Felton, and May at UNC.

Trying to identify those that will one day contribute and those that will never be able to is the key. Both played and contributed as freshman. How much better did Fitch really get, other than he was an intregal part of the offense which gave him more PT and more shots. He was a beast and a spark plug off the bench as a freshman. That means Daniels got better, and he never ended up great. Who else can you give me? Who gets better at UK under Tubby?

Joes Crawford has raised his FG and 3pt % every year so far. Thats one I don't have time for anymore right now it's lunch time. I won't put points and minutes in there because that comes with more playing time.
February 19, 200719 yr Ross Neltner or Sheray Thomas, Bobby Perry, and Orbzut? Corey Brewer and Chris Lofton or Rameel Bradley and Joe Crawford? I realize that I have the benefit of hindsite but if you want to see why UK is currently suffering look no further than these personel decisions by a $2,000,000 a year coach. I'd much prefer the 3 UK players mentioned than Neltner...He doesn't impress me any more than the 3 UK already have... I like what UK has in Bradley and Crawford. These 2, along with Morris are the backbone of the team...I like Brewer and Lofton, as well, but, not near as much coming out of HS as I do now... Like you said hindsight is 20-20, but, you have just as many, if not more, UK flops from in-state as you do successes, ala: Stockton...And, if UK took these top Ky kids and didn't have success, then everyone would be screaming he takes too many instate kids and needs to recruit the blue chips more...People need to realize, you can spin anything in anyway to satisfy your arguments. The fact of the matter is, people who want Tubby out are going to still want Tubby out, regardless of what he does, including a Final 4, landing Patterson or winning 30 games a season. There will be something else that doesn't satisfy them or an excuse for what hes accomplished to downplay his contribution to it..

I won't put points and minutes in there because that comes with more playing time. How about the fact that Joe Crawford couldn't get minutes as a freshman until he walked off campus. Then Tubby realized his freshman had talent and needed some minutes. Joe has improved as much as Bobby Perry has stayed the same and Sheray Thomas has actually gotton worse.........

February 19, 200719 yr Neltner is putting up better numbers on a better team. Nuff said. Anyone who would take Sheray Thomas over Ross Neltner is well .., he's Tubby Smith! Like I stated earlier 0fer in 20 minutes of play is what Thomas gives UK. I have a hard time seeing how anyone defends those stats.

I don't see how anyone outside of Sheray's parents could pick him between the two. We haven't even begun to discuss Orbzut or Alleyne. I'll give anyone the Bradey vs. Lofton, you can make a case for Bradley but choosing Thomas or Orbzut over anyone is a stretch.
