You can't be mad at Sheray Thomas for lack of effort. This season and definitely the last month or so I haven't seen a player play and hustle and do all the little things better than he has. Just doesn't have the major high level talent that some unrealistic people would like for him to have. I am proud to have Thomas wearing that Kentucky jersey across his chest.

Smith did not take Crawford or Morris over Brewer. Morris and Crawford were late commitments and both were very close to going elsewhere. Smith passed on Brewer because he felt like he could not play in the SEC. Same with Lofton.

 

Bottom line is that he reject two kids who would have crawled to Lexington and took two kids that had to be begged to come to UK. I think it shows in their passion.

 

I realize that hindsight is 20/20. I hope Smith or whoever the coach is in the future learns from that mistake.

For all of Smith's recruiting woes, it is silly to blast him for not taking Lofton and Brewer when he was able to "beg" (aka RECRUITING) Crawford and Morris to come to UK. Take all the shots in the world for the other recruiting classes, but to say Tubby did a bad job at the time for getting those two kids is simply not being realistic.

Neltner is averaging 10 pts., 6 reb. and shooting 53% from the field. Thomas on the other hand has season highs of 12 and 7. Averaging 2 and 2 but is shooting an impressive 37%.

 

You also are qualified for a spot on Smith's staff. More specifically as recruiting coordinator.

Thanks for the contract offer Mitch. Bottom line is Sheray Thomas does not HAVE to score for our team. He plays VERY solid defense and he can pull down a board in traffic very well. Neltner is a little girl who stands outside and shoots 3's all day. That is the LAST thing we need.

I'll take the players we got right now. Whats the point in speculating what "could of been"?? IMO Perry, Thomas, and Orbzut are better options for us than Neltner. Brewer is a very good player but do you think Tubby would of predicted that he would of hit a 2-3 inch growth spurt at Florida?
