5A Pulaski County (5-0) at 6A South Warren (4-1)

 

The Maroons will load the buses and take the Cumberland Parkway over to Bowling Green on the roughly 2-hour trip (take a stop at Bucee's on the way back!!!) to take on a tough South Warren squad.  Pulaski County may be the most underrated team in the State.  They have blown out 2 6A teams (Hendo and North Hardin), beat a very good 2A LCA team in the Rebel Bowl, went to 4A Corbin and prevailed 21-14 and overran very solid 4A Johnson Central and walk into South Warren with an undefeated record.  Impressive.

For the Spartans, they got punched in the mouth vs Manual at home 42-21, but South may be one of the best "fueled by the feud' team in the state, meaning they thrive when they have that vitriol in their gut and they come out and play levels higher because of it.  South, following the Manual game, killed Greenwood, Bowling Green and Christian County and now face a thriving Maroons squad.   

This will be the second ever matchup between these two solid programs with South running all over Pulaski last season 35-0. 

Pulaski County Maroons Information - (TP94 Rating: 74.87)

The Maroons are led by QB Kal Ridner who was 16 for 35 for over 200 yards 3 TDs vs 1 INT vs North Hardin.  Star RB Kasen Brock ran for over 100 yards and 4 TDs vs North.

Defensively, Pulaski is led by SR Cohen Finley with 14 tackles vs North.

I honestly don't know a ton about Pulaski other than they have a great Oline.  Let's see how they do vs South Warren.

South Warren Spartan Information - (TP94 Rating:  79.06)

The Spartans continue to be led by SR QB Camden Page who went 13 for 17 for nearly 400 yards vs Bowling Green with 4 TDs and 1 INT.  RB Jamir Board continues to improve for South with 14 carries for nearly a 100 yards vs BG and 1 TD. 

But defensively is where the Spartans usually hang their hat.  The Spartans aren't as big up front without "BIG' Jaquise Smith who is injured, but they fly to the ball and pressure you and make you uncomfortable.  LB Takyon Darden is a good player and one of the top tacklers on the team. 

Game Preview

This should be an entertaining game.  Pulaski wants to run the ball.  South Warren wants to stop the run.  Something will have to give.  But at some point, in this game, Pulaski will need to pass.  The question is, can they?  Additionally, South's offense vs Pulaski's defense and I look for South QB Camden Page to continue to make good decisions.  If Jamir Boards has a big night for South, I think South takes this game, but not by a lot.

Kasen Brock set the career TD record against JC for the Maroons. They're led up front by Brady Hull (UK Signee) and Connor Blevins (JR with a squat over 700). Treymon Bryant is a talented freshman who just recently gained a UK offer and plays DE/TE. The strength of the team is their line play, and freshman Kal Ridner is very savvy to only have 5 starts. Should be a great game. Give me PC by 6.

Ridner has run the offense well, especially for a freshman. It's a luxury to have that line in front of him. South's defense will be a stern test for that unit and Ridner.

Coin flip game imo.

Gotta pick the home team though.

This game is very interesting and should probably be a contest game.

South is hitting their stride. Possibly a more talented team than they had last year when they beat PC 35-0. I just can't see a Freshman QB coming in and beating SW at SW.

South Warren 24-14.

How does this SW team compare to last year, if similar, I see SW having the edge here. They used the quick passes to their advantage.

Very interesting game, I'm going to go with Pulaski County to win. I really like what they have done to this point and believe that they are really good. SW is obviously a good football team too, but I like Pulaski's chances. Good luck to both teams.
