Owensboro Catholic and Apollo got into the win column last week. Owensboro Catholic beat Daviess County 59-7. Apollo beat Heritage Hills 29-28 in overtime. I believe that was two games in a row Apollo played a game in overtime.

Let's get down to business. Who wins and why?

I'll go with Owensboro Catholic in a high scoring game by 7. I think the Owensboro Catholic QB is the difference.

Good game here! Apollo should be rightfully high as a kite here coming into this game avenging a loss from a really good Hills team in 2025 and winning in exciting fashion in OT last week. I just think the OCath defense is better than the Apollo defense. So, I'll go with the Aces here. Good luck to both teams and no injuries!

Last year was a tight game I think. Apollos win against Heritage Hills looms large here as I would think HH vs OCath would be a dogfight most every year. I picked OC but Apollo can put up points too. It would not surprise me either way. I think it goes to the final drive of the game.

I think this will be a tight game. The Apollo offense is very good and they did a great job last year creating mismatches against the Catholic defense. Everyone knows what OC is gonna do on offense. They are not good at running the ball and they really don't even try. I think Apollo will have to bring pressure because if you let Carothers sit back and make throws he will hurt you.

To me, that's bold. I think Apollo will be able to run the football well in this one. Catholic lost a lot of production from their defensive box, while Apollo returns its entire offensive line. That group has already been tested against two really challenging defensive fronts in Murray and Heritage Hills.

My biggest question is Catholic's secondary.

Boyle seemed to throw a lot of creative looks at Catholic built around Driver. The kid basically played every offensive position except offensive line 😂. Apollo presents a different challenge. Lillpop, Williams, Jones, and Green give Johnson plenty of weapons on the outside, and Catholic's secondary is going to get tested.

Also worth remembering: Catholic never saw Max Johnson last season because of his injury. Apollo nearly won that game with a backup QB who, if I remember correctly, hadn't taken any meaningful reps at quarterback until that week.

Defensively, Apollo needs pressure - and lots of it. Luckily for the Eagles, Miles Edge isn't back there making plays out of the backfield anymore. Apollo's defensive line is going to have to bring it, but I think the linebackers have improved immensely since Week 1. Heritage Hills was certainly no slouch, either.

I think this one stays close, but I like Apollo's chances because of what Johnson can do with his legs at QB and the huge strides Milburn has made at RB. If Apollo can establish the run, keep Johnson clean, and make Catholic defend the entire field, I think the Eagles can give them all they want.

Should be a fun one.

Defensively we are getting up to speed and I just believe we can run and pass at will on Apollos defense.

I agree and anything can happen in a rivalry game. And JT Edge last year was probably the best backup quarterback in the state.

I'm an Owensboro fan, but in a few weeks we play you guys. Want to see how well you guys do without Miles Edge at RB. He was a huge factor last year in the Apollo and our game. DreMail didn't have over 130 yards passing in either game and I believe he threw a couple picks in each game.

Dre'Mail has improved greatly and I'm very confident in the receivers and offensive line. Also I believe we can run the ball if we really want too.

If there is a game that Coach Edge would like to win, it would be this one. I can't put my finger on it, but something tells me that Coach Edge and the Eagles find a way to win this game. Who knows it maybe another OT game.

Wow after watching them against Murray they are VERY tough offensively wow. This is one of the better games especially in west kentucky along with Mayfield and Paducah. This will show me alot about OC moving forward in 2A. Toss up for me and maybe a slight and I mean slight edge to Apollo razor edge.
