Head Coach Jay Cobb and the Trinity Shamrocks will open their 2026 home slate of varsity football games on Friday as they host Archbishop Moeller High School out of Cincinnati. Kick off at 7 pm. Moeller leads the overall series between the two schools 8 wins vs 4 losses

Trinity will enter this game at 2-0 with two running clock road wins over highly ranked opponents...59-13 over Anderson (OH) and 52-21 over CBC (MO).

In Fridays win over CBC, Shamrocks QB Zane Johnson threw for 213 yards and 3 TDs. WR Jason Hagan accounted for 5 catches and 91 of those passing yards. Meanwhile, the 3-horse RB stable that Trinity has in its backfield accounted for almost 300 yards of rushing offense with JB Berry at 165 yards, Ashton Taylor at 54 yards and Romelle Spearman at 49 yards. The Trinity defense and special teams were equally as effective. Trinity has simply been excellent in all 3 phases of football over the first two games.

While many of the Trinity faithful are already looking ahead to a week 4 home game, this 3rd game vs Moeller certainly has the attention of Coach Cobb and his staff.

The Crusaders handed Trinity one of its only two losses in 2025 by a score of 24-21; a game played in Cincinnati that the Rocks let slip away. Moeller comes to this game with a record of 1-1 and are ranked top 15 in Ohio. They lost to top 10 Cincinnati Princeton 31-24 and then bounced back to take down Groveport Madison 45-7. As always, expect Moeller to play a very physical brand of football

The Moeller defense is once again the strength of its team and is anchored by LB Andrew Stofko and DB's Marino Middleton and Paxton Dodsworth. Special teams are a work in progress and gave up two or three short fields to Princeton. The OL for the Crusaders is huge and features Kalel Johnson and Patrick O Brien. Moeller can pound the run with RBs Britton Glover and Greylo Coach. Their weak link might be the QB position where they are having to replace former All State player and current UK QB Matt Ponatoski. Junior QB Nick Monserez struggled in the Princeton game before looking better against a lesser opponent in Groveport.

Can the Shamrocks protect their Marshall Stadium home on Friday and move to 3-0 on the season or do the Crusaders come down I71 and ruin the Trinity home opener?

P.S. Two side notes.....

1. The Trinity 2011 National Champion football team will be recognized at halftime on its 15 year anniversary.

2. The Trinity F and JV teams will travel north to Moeller on the next day (Saturday, Sept 5) for a 11 am (F) and 1:30 pm (JV) doubleheader.

Trinity fans have a new way to watch the Rocks!

Beginning September 1, Trinity games will stream on the new WDRB+WAVE platform. Here is how to make sure you are ready to watch:

Current WDRB+ users will receive an automatic app update around September 1 that will transition the app to WDRB+WAVE. Once updated, select Live Sports from the list of streams (photo above) at the top of the home page to watch Trinity games.

Fire TV

Fire TV users will need to download the new WDRB+WAVE app from the app store. Current WDRB+ users should receive a prompt beginning September 1 with information about making the switch.

Mobile Devices

The current WDRB+ mobile app will no longer be available. Download the WDRB+WAVE News app on your phone, select Live at the bottom of the screen, and then choose Live Sports from the available streams.

The Live Sports stream will feature Trinity Athletics along with Louisville City FC.

I was looking at what it would take to be #1 in the Nation and IMG Academy (FL) is #1 and their rating is 50 pts higher than Trinity so based on that IMG would put a running clock on Trinity. That's crazy to think considering how good Trinity is.
