What about yours by Watt or Steelers would have had to go to overtime. Also the Bucs are a lot better than the Falcons. I guess it was just luck for the Bengals and skill by the Steelers they scored 13 points against a very week NFL team today. Unlike you most all of us Bengal fans will say it when they play poorly and if you read above and in next week's post the Bengals will have to shore up things on both sides of the ball if they want to go to Houston and get a win.

While I agree we don't want to see Joe get hurt. Joe also scrambled around to get a first down and lowered his shoulder into a defender. The Bengals ran a QB draw for 15 yards before half. Like or not Burrow's legs when healthy is a big part of his game too. Tom Brady who is the GOAT made a living out of being great at QB sneaks too. If you put someone else in there cold and the fumble the snap, people would also then complain about how could you take Burrow out.

The game was on the line in that situation, first down sealed the game. Plus you put someone else back there then you know it's coming. With Burrow they still don't know for sure if it's coming. So Zero issue from me with them doing a sneak with him.

Maybe at different parts of the game, I wouldn't mind seeing them do what you suggested. Which they have had Tanner Hudson and even Flacco come in and do before. However, with the game on the line. I am perfectly fine with him doing it.

If you want to talk about luck. The Steelers defense played great today, but yet it took an amazing playing by Watt to get a pick 6 to win today. Since their offense could only manage 13 points. Having an offense have less than 300 yards and only scoring 13 points and winning still is definitely having Lady Luck on your side.

That sounds like the makings of a good team to me. As they had other players step up and make plays today that helped win them the game.

We have seen to many times the last three years of Burrow or Chase having a huge game and yet ended up losing. So for Burrow to have a pick 6, and Chase basically being shut down. That shows me that they have the makings of a great team, that they can find a way to win still despite all that.

I would say that is definitely the glass half full viewpoint. Granted, I did not watch every snap like you did, but from what I saw, I felt like Tampa Bay was the better team, but Cincinnati (to their credit) took advantage of some sloppy Bucs' plays at pivotal moments, but I didn't feel like I was watching the '85 Bears. That said, every year there is that one team that has a huge turnover margin swing in their favor and it results in a better-than-expected record. Maybe that is the Bengals this year? Last year it was Chicago.

That is kind of my point with this. Tampa Bay is a good team, they have some play makers on offense, a good offensive line, a good defensive line. It wasn't like the Bengals were going to come out and dominate them, there was going to be clear things to still fix after week 1 just like every team. As the Tampa Bay players get paid to make plays as well.

The Bengals and Burrow have shown pretty consistently that they only get better as the year goes on offensively. The Bengals offensive line shown that how they ended the year wasn't really a fluke, and continued to pass protect well all game. The Bengals literally had zero pass rush last year, but their defensive line was putting pressure on Mayfield most of the game, and created two of those fumbles. The Bengals defense has been very bad the last few years, but even with that the Bengals offense has had chances the last few years to close out games, but weren't able to. Which then led to opposing teams getting the ball back, and scoring against our bad defenses. Yet in this game the Bengals were aggressive when they got the ball back and went out and won the game.

So the Bengals showed a lot of improvement in areas that had cost them games in previous years. There is still plenty to fix, and with the defense while they may not end up being a top 10 type defense. They showed that with the new pass rush, and additions, they definitely should be at least a middle of the pack defense. Which would be huge, and can make all the difference in the world. As the last time the Bengals had a middle of the pack defense, they made the Super Bowl.

Which I will add I notice people have talked about how the they didn't make the Bucs punt at all. Which is true, and need to get better there. With that said, it doesn't really tell the whole story either. As two of the fumbles the Bengals got were on 3rd down, which if Mayfield and Irving don't fumble on those plays and simply just get tackled, they would been punting the next play then. So yes they didn't punt, but part of that was because the Bengals caused them to fumble as they were stopping them on those third downs.
