I was thinking about the Missouri and Georgia games which they were both favored in this season, but I do agree. They don't seem to win the "even" matchups. That was probably a better statement than the one I made. To me, Santa Clara is an "even" matchup this season (which tells you where this program is currently) and it doesn't bode well for the Cats.

I really would love for them to win and have a shot against Iowa State. Being a big under dog in that game gives an extra layer of motivation. I just hate the fact that I am getting used to not watching Kentucky in deep runs in the tournament over the last 8ish years. Very depressing,

Completely agree! With all that said, I actually like their draw. I am not hopeful of a run, but the draw they got is probably about as best as we could have hoped for. As while Iowa State is really good, they also lost to UC earlier this year. So I could see a path of UK possibly making it to the second weekend again, but probably still more likely they lose this first game than making the second weekend.

I believe that is the team motto this year.

    Kentucky is in trouble.

  • Santa Clara is coached by Herb Sendek.  His wife Melanie is a Boyle County Grad.

I'm with you. I think they match up well with Iowa State and Virginia.
I definitely don't want to get my hopes up, but if Kentucky can get past Santa Clara I'm beginning to think that they could string together a couple of wins. As up and down as this season has been - a sweet 16 would quiet a lot of the noise.

Kentucky 82-74.

This isn't the game that worries me. Could the Cats lose? Of course. But I think more likely than not this is one that isn't in contention down the stretch.

It is the potential game that against Iowa State that worries me.

The Broncos leading 31-29 at the half. A terrible last 6 minutes of the half for the Cats they could only muster 3 points and were outscored 10-3 over that period. In the half they 7 turnovers  that have resulted in 7 points from the turnovers. The Cats are only 4-15 but thank goodness the Broncos are also only 4-15 from 3 as well. If the Cats are going to play on Sunday they are going to have to play better! Chandler is 0-5 from 3 and no points!

59-57 Santa Clara with 735 left.
