February 12, 200719 yr Why would you not want Billy he is a great coach. Who gets Tubby's rejects and makes them great. Like Brewer last night. He said he was ready to sign with the cats but Tubby said he was to small for SEC play. He is a great coach and has been to more Final Fours then Tubby. I would love for Kentucky to get Donavan. Well see Im a old school kind of guy that looks at Billy D. as the enemy. He coaches Florida the Rival to U.K. the bad guys. I am a Fan that Stands by My Team and My Coach...I have been following UK basketball for over 30 years and I may not have agreed with Joe B.,Eddie Sutton and Ricky P.all of the time,but I always supported them! I never once said I wish we could get rid of our coach so we can replace them with someone eles.So I do not care what Billy D. has done or is doing.He is not my coach and I don't want him to be my Coach,because I already have a great coach.I am a True Blue Die hard UK Basketball Fan.:ylsuper:
February 12, 200719 yr And he has also said it is a dream job of his, and that he would like to coach there someday..However with his health, it might be something that would make him not take it, because his body probably wouldn't be able to hold up through all the recruiting he would have to do... I would love to see Riley coach UK because I think he could bring in a lot of really good players, but as you said his health is a major issue and I don't know if I see him taking it. Some advantages for him would be a shorter season, not as tough as a flight schedule, and more time with his family. That's some things I'm sure he'd consider if he decided he might wanna take a stab at coaching UK.
February 12, 200719 yr I'm sure with the name "Pat Riley"... he won't have to do much traveling. I think you would just accept the scholarship because of who he is and what Kentucky is.

February 12, 200719 yr Calipari is one coach that I would not want. If I wanted him I would just take the original, Coach Pitino. Calipari is just a cheap copy of Coach P. That said I do not want to loose Tubby, I think he is a great coach. Those around the country already know this, those of us with our hearts on our sleeves it is hard to see somtimes. I thought Smith's game plan was great last night, the play just before the half that he called worked perfect and gave Crawford a wide open 3 pointer (but he missed it). The Cats had open shots all night but could knock them down, not really the coaches fault. Donovan is a very good coach, but if I had 4-5 NBA players on my college team I could win a game or two also. He is a Great recruiter. Maybe we should fire David Hobbs and bring in Billy D as Exec. Asst. and head Coach in waiting. He could recruit 'em and Tubby could coach them. Donovan has had tons of talent ever since he arrived at UF but until last year he under acheived ever year, maybe together he and Tub could make it work. Side thought.....do you think Coach P keeps going to the NIT just so the UL folks would not be mad if he left and came back to UK?

February 12, 200719 yr Around this time last year Tubby was rumored to be replacing Bernie Bickerstaff at the end of the season as head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats and Bernie Bickerstaff moving upstairs to focus solely on his General Manager duties.
