February 13, 200719 yr Thats my quandary. There are certainly times I feel Tubby is falling short of UK level coaching, but I can't think of too many coaches I'd rather have. Especially ones that would even consider the job. Just speaking to what I have bolded, do we have a definition of UK level coaching. If it is Pitino's great run is the standard, then for more years than Tubby has been below this level, Sutton, Hall, and near the end Rupp, were all below the UK level of coaching.

February 13, 200719 yr Do you reall want to get this started, because I really did not see Pitino running the practices before the season, or calling the plays during the season. Or making the calls from the sideline when we played a more talented Duke team than us in the elite 8, or in the finals when we played a Utah team that was destroying everyone including the EXACT same Arizona team that beat Pitinos team the year before, and also beat a UNC team with Jamison and Vince Carter on it. I mean I really didn't see Pitino at all during those times, and the person who was holding up the trophy was Tubby, I didn't see Pitino anywhere, except when I watched sportscenter and saw his Celtics team getting killed every game... :thumb: :thumb: Excatly fc, I am so glad that you quoted/noted this. Ugh...This really drives me nuts. I have seen so many times lately people say that UK has been down for 2 or 3 years now. I know last year was a really bad year, and it made it seem like the season took forever, but it was just one year. The year before last year we were playing in a double overtime game in the elite 8 for the chance to go to the final four. We have not had a couple of bad years in a row, we had ONE bad year and not 2 or 3 years in a row. Quite frankly out of the last 4 years, we have been the #1 seed overall in the whole tournament, and the other year we were in that double overtime game, and then there was last year. And as I said many of times I think this years team is going to do very well in the tournament, so its going to be one bad one in 5 years... Sorry I know I think you were defending Tubby, but I just had to get that off me chest because I really getting tired of people acting like we have had a couple of bad years in a row, when that is not true at all...:thumb:

February 14, 200719 yr I agree on Florida basketball always being second fiddle to the football program,imo that is true at anyplace but U.K. and Vandy in the SEC. Donovan has a great team and is very close if not already there to a great program at Florida. The program this decade is better than UK's since 2000: Florida- 2 Final Fours, 2 National Championship apperances, 1 national championship Kentucky- 0 granted the Florida's program does not match up nearly to the history of UK's but recently Florida has become a national power year in and year out, the are becoming if not already an upper tier program.
